The Lookout - dream, hide, explore!

Calling all explorers, dreamers and creatives! Come for a quick retreat or stay to write that book. The lookout was built by owner Rob himself over ten years. There is thought and love behind every little detail. The house isn't perfect, there is raw wood, some things aren't finished, the furniture is vintage and may appear worn but if you look past that, you will find that everything there has its own story and that this house is made for the big things: sunrises, ocean dreaming and full-moons The space The house was designed in a way that you are protected from the wind which can get very strong in Cape Town over two levels. Having said that, it is possible that in very strong winds the windows in the lounge rattle. The entrance is reached via a step of stairs and at this lower level you find the two bedrooms with their own bathrooms as well as a sheltered little patio for the master bedroom. It also harbours another major treasure of the house: The bookshelf. It contains a fantastic collection of art, design, life books as well as novella. On the second level, reached by a set of stairs you find an open living area with a full kitchen and sliding doors that open to a patio with couches and sunsails. You will find yourself flirting with the ocean through little windows and big ones as you move through the house. Watching the sun and moonrises across the bay while sitting on the couch with music playing through the sound system will be stay in your memory for years to come. There is parking on the road and you can also park in the driveway, but its very steep. Guest access Guests have access to the full apartment and do not need to share any facilities except the driveway. The owner Rob lives in the second unit at the lower level of the house, but the unit is totally private Other things to note The house is self built, that means that some things may appear basic or unfinished (but still beautiful!!) So the house is more suited for the "unfussy" traveller focused on the big things in life. We dont think its safe for kids as there are some spaces you could fall from, there are areas that are quite tempting to climb without restricted access. But if your kids are used to spaces like this you are of course welcome to bring them. we have internet back up during loadshedding and some rechargeable lights. the stove is gas so you can still cook but the washing machine microwave etc will not work during loadshedding Please note that occasionally water outages out of control can happen.we do supply some emergency water for this and are currently working on a back up tank
