Ask about detached office if you need to work from home; the internet is great. Polite well trained pets OK. The space A Single Level County Home in the Hills above Monterey Bay and Santa Cruz. Ben Lomond Bungalow marries romance and adventure near Silicon Valley yet it a world apart in the historic San Lorenzo Valley. THE HOUSE: -Cleaning: Immaculate rooms with white glove professional cleaning between each guest. - Cook's Kitchen: for many hands; you can pick your herbs from what is ready to harvest in the kitchen garden. - Windows: looking into the branches of a 360 yr oak tree (10,000 sq ft. canopy). - Stocked with all essential housewares and linens. - The Master's suite: contains a queen 4-poster bed with its own freestanding gas fireplace and large low step shower with bench, cable tv. - Guest Room: Sleep with comfort in the pillow-top queen-size beds. Small TV to view DVD for our own collection. - Kids Room is small like some of our most enthusiastic guests. They will find a bunkbed plus trundle to pull out. Hidden under the desk in the closet is a toy box. The inflatable pool is in the garage with the beach chairs and ice-chest. ELECTRONICS: - Enhanced with superfast WiFi (434 Mbps) you will be connected even on the deck or garden.! - Xfinity Cable, and 3 Smart TVs, DVD. - Printer, - Docking Station, - Wireless speaker, _Play vinyl on the turn-table, or CD's from the music library. OUTDOOR LIVING: - One of the largest Oak trees on the central coast estimated at 360 years with a 10,000 sq ft. canopy. - Private Meadow with patio room open to the stars; crafted from the tops of redwood trees and Brazilian fire-pit grill. - Large Deck with two sofa's several bistro sets and dinning on the deck or picnic in the front garden. - 2 Barbecues (gas and charcoal) - 4 Gardens (front fenced in for small kids and pet, mediation with fountain, meadow room, Kitchen Garden with herbs, grapes, berries, assorted veggies. Please help your self to what is ripe. If the kids want to plant a 6-pack we are happy to reimburse you the cost of the plants. Over an acre of meadow surrounded by forest. - Hot Tub for 5 -Large garden shower with black pebble floor. - Tree Swing - Assortment of yard games, and inflatable pool. THE OLD GOAT BARN/OFFICE - The barn was raised high into the air to receive a foundation, and gently lowered on to its new highly polish concrete floor. From the wall to wall windows gaze over the meadow to watch the wildlife. - Fully furnished as a private office it is available with additional cost and prior arrangement. LOCATION: Ben Lomond Bungalow is relatively secluded but is an easy drive to everywhere with quick access to CA Hwys 1, 9. and 17 and 35. - Backroads or Freeway we are 10 miles to the beaches and to Santa Cruz; - 2 miles to two different mountain villages (Felton and Ben Lomond) and not much further to Brookdale and Boulder Creek. - 8 miles to Scotts Valley - Carmel, Monterey, Half-moon Bay, and San Francisco or San Jose are all easy day trips; and so many wineries. THINGS TO DO: -When it's time to get active take a dip in one of the local swimming holes, or pools we are here to help you find them. -For a quick hike take a stroll behind the house along the Sunset Trail (Quail Hollow Ranch Park / Nature Preserve). -Roaring Camp Railroad hosts the 19th century Steam Train is found with two miles of our home. -Loch Lomond, a few miles up the mountain is stocked with trout and bass. Boats are available for a small fee, fishing licenses may be purchased on site. -The world famous Santa Cruz Wharf and Beach Boardwalk, and the fabulous West Cliff Drive are found just 10 miles way. -Beach time: We provide the house fully furnished including a few boggie boards, books, DVD's and kids bikes. Please do bring beach towels, bike helmets, and fishing poles. - Mt. Hermon Zip Line is said to be the longest on the cost as you zip through the canopy of the Redwood Trees. - State Parks near by include: Henry Cowell (redwood trees and swimming holes) Big Basin (Sky to Sea Trail), Natural Bridges (Monarch Butterflies), Wilder Ranch (Historic Dairy Ranch wonderful Coast Indian Trails for foot or bike), Twin Lakes (Beach Party), Sunset (the wreck of the concrete ship; SS Palo Alto), Ano Nuevo (elephant seals), Bean Creek (drift wood) Wadell Beach (surf sail, and end of the Sky to Sea Trail). -Longmarine Lab (UCSC), kids are the docents -Saltz Tannery Artist Community -Santa Cruz Art Museum -DOG BEACH!!!! Big Sur and San Francisco and all the all the treasures between (Monterey, Carmel, Point Lobos, Franklin Point, Pigeon Point, Los Gatos, Santa Cruz, Capitola, and Saratoga) are available as day trips from this central location. Guest access Exclusive use of House, and garden, private forest, meadow and hot tub, hammocks, fountain, fire pit, barbecue (gas or charcoal) and kitchen gardens. The Old Goat Barn is private without advance arrangement. Other things to note You will see wild turkeys, birds, and deer, bees squirrels and blue belly lizards in the yard, but other animal have been reported in the mountains such as bob cats, coyotes, mountain lions, and reptiles of all sorts. Kids should not play unattended in the meadow. Talk to the kids about best practices should someone see one of the wild animals. No chasing, running, screaming …. instead they should make them selves look as big as possible, speak sternly, back away slowly. Afternoon showers in the garden is an amazing experience as the light hits the distant mountains and the birds sing.
