Casa Colina, Never-Ending views from our 11 Acres
Description
This is an 11 acre property with a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 2 story house built mostly of adobe with lots of love. You will have 360 degree views with mountains in several directions and a feel of wide-open tranquility. We are about 15 or 20 minutes south of Santa Fe on NM Hwy 14, about 30 minutes to downtown Santa Fe. We are about 70 minutes from the Albuquerque airport via Interstate 25 and secondary roads or by NM highway 14. The space Having built this adobe house ourselves over a period of several years, we made sure that the finished product would show our own love of the pueblo style of houses in the Southwest as well as the warmth and welcome to all who come to visit. The architecture is based on the southwestern pueblo style with plenty of light and air. The adobe walls are integral to the character of the house and add solar warmth and light to the rooms. The living room is spacious with 2 sofas, a television with Tivo and a DVD player. (The television has nothing fancy, just over-the-air channels, Netflix, and YouTube TV.) The kitchen is stocked with dishes and cooking items if you eat-in and an adjacent dining area where a table and 6 chairs provide for a leisurely home-cooked meal. The 3 bedrooms feature 2 king beds and 1 queen bed and can accommodate 5 people. There are 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom downstairs and one bedroom and one bathroom upstairs with a sauna. Upstairs there are 2 decks, 1 facing east to view the sunrise, and 1 facing north and west to view the sunset. For our literary-leaning guests, there is a separate, cozy library full of wonderful books as well as years of vintage National Geographic magazines. For additional coziness, there is an electric fireplace in the library as well as a kiva fireplace in the living room. There is a pantry adjacent to the kitchen with a front-loading washing machine but no dryer. A good old-fashioned clothes line is outside the back door for hanging up clothes in the sunshine, the most ecologically conscious way to dry laundry. We are in a dry climate so clothes dry quickly. There are outside patios in addition to a picnic table under the locust tree. You can also just pick up your chairs and explore. There is also a 12' x 12' yoga deck with views to the west. The night skies can be magical for city dwellers. On moonless, clear nights you will be awe-struck by the stars, planets, constellations, Milky Way Galaxy and the occasional shooting star. The expansive views of the surrounding landscape can almost guarantee breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.
