Description
Million-dollar views with rustic accommodations. The space The Dominical Adventure Treehouse rests 300 feet above the ocean, with front row wide open ocean views. Enjoy the Wildlife viewing platform with views to the south for morning coffee, and the Sunset yoga platform with a view up the coast to the west and watch the Sun melt into the ocean at sunset. Cool off in the Infinity plunge pool, or sit in the shade of the open air common areas and enjoy the lush vegetation, flowers, trees, bananas, and fresh air. There are numerous picturesque spaces to find peace and serenity on the property, perfect for a retreat atmosphere, suitable for couples and small groups to spread out and have personal space…and every space, platform, and room has a view of the Pacific! The property is in a gated community of 13 homes. You are in paradise, this is my jungle home. It is a short trip, 1/4 mile downhill to the Pacific Coast Highway, and less than 1 kilometer to downtown Dominical, a sleepy surf village with some amazing restaurants, a grocery store, spa and more. A separate structure on the property is undergoing renovations, but no construction happens while guests have the place booked. My other listing, "Las Plataformas" is the same space with an additional separate guesthouse - good for an extra couple or someone who wants more privacy. The reason for a duplicate listing is so that returning guests still find the treehouse they know. When you book either listing, both listings get blocked, and there are no other guests on the property. A caretaker will stay on the grounds in a completely separate structure. Dominical Adventure Treehouse is a three level open-air house with one air-conditioned Master Bedroom w/King Bed and adjacent full bath. Upstairs there is a Queen bed in a teak-lined room with adjacent full bathroom, kitchen and 2 additional double mattresses in an open air space on the "main" kitchen level. There is a TV with cable and wifi should you desire to plugin. The lot is steep and is overlooking an expansive view of the Pacific Ocean. The principle house is an open-air (except the air-conditioned Master Bedroom), wild, rainforest paradise with everything that entails. Most guests have absolutely loved it, as I do when I am there, (and reviews attest.) Guests have had valid issues, often related to a lack of experience in this particular environment. Let me give some examples: In the rainforest, it rains - a lot. This is especially true in September and October, but on any day of the year, it can really pour. As a result, clients have not realized that when you leave for the day or go to sleep at night, especially if you leave things (laptops) on the balcony they can get wet. There are insects - all kinds. We recommend using bug spray BEFORE you experience a bite. Begin with it in the am (especially on the ankles) and touch up in the afternoon. Prepared is best. If you do not fully close (I mean airtight) the sugar container, you will get to see an amazing display of ant-work. Similarly, if you spill jelly and wipe it with your finger, it looks clean to a human but the ants can prove you wrong. A wasp nest can develop in just a couple days, and they like the shower in particular. It isn't a problem, and they don't bother you during a shower, but some clients don't like to see them under any circumstances, so my work crew knows to remove them, no matter how small. If you see one, just point it out, and they will take care of it. There are bigger animals too. My property attracts significant wildlife, monkeys, toucans, sloths, iguanas, etc. They do not hesitate to help themselves to any fresh fruit, bananas, and mangos you purchased for yourself - all food should be hung up in a plastic bag or bread items stored in Tupperware (provided). I prefer guests to arrive before dark, if at all possible. This often means driving directly to the property as it is located 4 hours south of San Jose, and the sunsets are earlier in Costa Rica around 5:30p-6p. Additionally, seeing the place by daylight with the caretaker present has been a help for guests in the past. The Dominical Adventure Treehouse has been in development for years. It is my labor of love. I have built it for myself. I since learned that others like it too, so I make it available here. Guest access The owner will not be there. Caretakers Julio speaks Spanish. Ronald speaks some English and can be there for problems/questions. My place is best suited for travelers who enjoy roughing it a little, comfortable traveling overseas, and are self-reliant. If willing, you are rewarded with the most amazing views in a truly tropical location. From the house, the entrance gate is not visible. I have recently installed an electric gate, that automatically closes securely after about 45 seconds. From the Pacific Coast Highway, the short climb to the lot is extremely steep. I recommend a 4 wheel drive vehicle and Wild-Rider for convent airport pick up and delivery. Most 2 wheel drive vehicles get up the entrance to our gated community. Yes, you can walk it, but it is a workout, especially with gear or surfboards. Other things to note Please read "The Space" description, since treehouse adventures are not for everyone.
