Our place combines the convenience for visiting the Austin area, while also being far from the maddening crowd. It's very peaceful and quiet here, with views to die for. A guest cottage, located 200 feet behind our residence, is about 1 hour from downtown Austin, Texas and Austin Bergstrom International Airport. Accommodates 2 couples or a family of 4 or 5. We are pet friendly WITH PRIOR APPROVAL ONLY. We charge a $35 fee for each pet. This fee is NOT included in the amount charged through airbnb, so it must be paid by cash or check when you arrive. We like to discuss details of the pet you are interested in bringing beforehand, such as size and demeanor. We are located in far western Travis County above Cypress Creek near the Pedernales River, with access to Cypress Creek. We are about 25 minutes from Bee Cave (and Hill Country Galleria shopping center) and from Dripping Springs. Travel time to Wimberley is about 45 minutes; to Fredericksburg about 1 hour. A great weekend get-away near Austin but far from the crowd. This Hill County retreat in Central Texas offers birding for the Golden-Cheeked Warbler. We are also minutes to Reimers Ranch Park for swimming in the Pedernales, rock climbing and mountain biking, and just 2 miles to Hamilton Pool! Only one mile away is West Cave Preserve, which is open to the public for guided tours on weekends . Two miles away is one of the best swimming holes in Texas, Hamilton Pool. And three miles away is Reimers Ranch Park, which offers world class rock climbing, miles of bike and hiking trails, and swimming and fishing in the Pedernales River. There are many wineries near by. Westcave Cellars (not too far from us). McReynolds, Solaro Estate and Bell Springs are all close by. Jester King Brewery is close by, as is Texas Hill Country Olive Company. A bit further is Texas Hills Vineyard in Johnson City, Driftwood Estate Winery near Wimberly and Spicewood Vineyards near Spicewood. And many, many more wineries, etc., near Fredericksburg. As much or as little as you like. We always enjoy meeting new folks and are happy to share our knowledge of the local area with our guests. Nature, nature, nature. It is a beautiful natural area. Our closest neighbor is a ranch. We're lucky to be a small island surrounded by a large ranch, keeping our neighbors few and our privacy complete, making us a very tranquil location. You definitely will need to have your own car to get around, as there is no public transport out here. Bring your mountain bikes, though, and you can ride the miles of trails at nearby Reimers Ranch Park. Be sure to bring good walking shoes if you want to take the nature trail down to our deck overlooking the creek canyon.
