Spacious, modern country home located just 2.2 miles from the center of town and most of the way is paved. We are surrounded by forest and a lake so there are always lots of wild life, song birds and water fowl to see. For your protection, your hosts are fully vaccinated against Covid19. All guests must provide proof of vaccination at time of booking. Your 257 sq. ft. bedroom includes a king sized bed, large window overlooking the lake, private entrance from outdoors, another door to the rest of the house, a dresser and a chair. Your closet is located just outside your door. Past that is the laundry area (common), your bathroom, another door to the lake and the great room (common room) with lots of seating, a wet bar and a pool table. The common areas of the home include the Level 1 Great room and laundry. On level 2 there is the kitchen, great room, dining room, sun room and garage for bicycle storage and service. There is also a large deck with a stairway to the fishing dock. No license required and we have fishing equipment for your use. We are always interested in getting to know our guests but, with two great rooms, the sun room, deck, dock and your own private room you will always have a place to be alone if you want. This is a very private area. There is only one other home on the lake and it is on the opposite side. Our driveway is 1/3 mile long and dead ends at our house. It's very common to see raccoons, deer and other animals in the yard but they always run when they see you. Emporia has a taxi service but officially they won't leave the city limits after dark. However, they have always been willing once they knew they were going to the Maxfield place. If you have a problem, just call us. We won't leave you stranded. You can occasionally hear the trains (1.1 mile away) when you are outside but your room is on the other side of the house so you probably won't hear them at night. Probably the loudest noise you might hear is our medi-vac helicopter going to the airport to fill up with gas but, it only lasts for less than a minute and is seldom at night.
