Description

Beautiful late 19th century house, with wide corridors, adobe walls, original wood carvings, a magnificent example of the traditional architecture of the Eje Cafetero. Enjoy a few days surrounded by nature in this Nature Reserve served directly by its owners. The space Built on top of a hill, from the corridors you can see both the central mountain range, where on clear mornings you can see the imposing Nevado del Tolima, as well as beautiful sunsets and guaduales. Surrounded by a lush forest-garden and with more than 120 identified species of birds that sing from dawn, its elegant decoration evokes the history and footprint of the old coffee hacienda. La Argelia offers all the comforts to make guests feel at home: six (6) spacious rooms, several living rooms, a couple of private terraces and three dining rooms. All rooms have bathrooms (interior or adjoining), exquisite furniture, lush vases and original iron beds made up in white. The generous layout of the space, the evocative decoration with vintage pieces and the surrounding nature is always present. The kitchen is a central space of the house that reflects the taste of the owners and hosts for gastronomy and their coexistence with the environment. With more than 50 square meters of extension, a simple and functional design that takes advantage of the beauty and goodness of guadua, masonry countertops of cement and clay tablet, the cozy kitchen (decorated with traditional clay dishes) is open to a forest of heliconias, saman trees and an old plum tree where birds are easily sighted while enjoying a good coffee. La Argelia does not offer guests access to the kitchen to prepare their food directly, but a space is organized in the fridge for their drinks and snacks and the dining room is a very pleasant and informal space. The rate includes a generous traditional breakfast, and at an additional and previously agreed cost, healthy homemade dishes can be prepared for lunch and a light dinner, as well as dinners for special dates in the old house's living room. The house offers several spaces for recreation and relaxation: in the central garden there is a guadua kiosk, with a cozy living room, armchairs, hammocks and a small dining room that serves as a game table. This space is connected to a terrace equipped for sunbathing, with an unforgettable view of centuries-old saman trees. It is an ideal place to practice yoga and enjoy the starry nights of the Coffee Region, next to the old coffee benefit pond, adapted as a pool to cool off, surrounded by the lush garden. The corridors on the first floor of the old house overlook the very quiet back garden, and from there begins a spectacular path that runs through the entire guadua forest that borders the property. We recommend that you enjoy it with the owner, a renowned biologist and conservation specialist. Guest access The house will be rented in its entirety to your group except for the area where its owners live (second floor of the house attached to the guest house).
