A charming two bedroom, 2.5 bathroom apartment in the center of the Old Town, a few steps from Cartagena’s coveted museums, restaurants, galleries and shops. The property includes a large living room, dining area, kitchen, and balcony overlooking picturesque colonial streets. Housekeeping is included (every other day) to ensure a stress-free stay (except Sundays & holidays). As you walk through the private entrance a long hallway will open up to a small internal courtyard with palm trees, climbing vines and a beautiful tobacco plant. On the left you will find a staircase leading to the second floor landing where the bedrooms and social areas are located. The Master bedroom accommodates up to three guests and boasts a full bathroom with a spacious independent shower. On the opposite side of the landing, a second bedroom with its own full bathroom accommodates up to three guests. And between the two, a double door will lead you through to the loft style, open plan kitchen, dinning room and living room area. With it's high ceilings, this space is ideal for hosting and can accommodate up to 25 visitors who will undoubtedly be attracted to the balcony that runs the full length of the room, offering views of the picturesque colonial streets below. The apartment is situated on the second floor of a typical colonial house above an ice cream parlor, a japanese restaurant and a jewelry boutique. Guests have access to the entire apartment beyond the private entrance on the first floor. I am not always in Cartagena however it is possible that we might coincide, my family home is only a few blocks away. Just below the apartment, on the first floor of the house you will find Masaki a japanese restaurant, Mr. Cool an ice cream parlor, and a jewelry boutique. The famous Bar Alquímico is next door, and La Jugada Night Club is right across the street - both of which play loud music, often past 2am. About half a block down the street you will find two more restaurants, Maria and Don Juan (one of my favorites). Just a few streets further you will find my favorite place for dinner, La Vitrola. This cuban restaurant, a landmark in Cartagena, boasts a spectacular live salsa band and signature mojitos. If you are feeling the music, continue on a short walk to the local salsa clubs Quiebra Canto and Cafe Havana. The best way to get around the Old Town is on foot, otherwise I highly recommend hiring a horse drawn carriage for a tour of the beautiful colonial streets. When arriving from the airport the local taxi service is a good option, they will be able to drop you off right in front of the house. If for any reason the street is closed, all you have to do is let the transit officer know that you are staying at the white house with the green balcony and doors. Housekeeping is included (every other day) in the rental price (except for Sundays and holidays). Sheets and towels are changed every other day, however if the that day falls on a Sunday (or holiday), they will be changed on the Monday (or following work day).
