Finca La Luna is a place of relaxation, immersed in nature, while still connected to fiber optic internet. CR breakfast (pinto) is included! The house is located on our small organic farm with lush green areas and, at 1700 m above sea level, views of San José valley. Locals can spend a weekend getaway to the cooler mountain air, to bike, hike, bird watch or simply chill with a good book under an avocado tree. Tourists can take day trips to volcanoes, waterfalls, coffee farms and ziplining. Finca La Luna is located a 35 min drive from SJO airport, to the north of San Jose. It's halfway up the mountain, in a semi-rural area, popular for hiking, biking and birdwatching. Concepcion, our little town has a few small shops and several (quite good!) restaurants, about 5 min drive away. 2 larger towns nearby (San Rafael and San Isidro) are a 12 min drive down the hill. Uber Eats does deliver to our place. Downtown Heredia is a 20 min drive a way. The house has two stories and sits on a lush one-acre property. The living room has a dining table, couches and a TV for lounging, as well as a small bathroom. The kitchen has a full induction stove, oven, fridge, microwave, rice cooker, electric kettle and coffee machine, so you can cook your own meals. Upstairs are two bedrooms, both of which have blackout curtains and brand new mattresses for a good night’s sleep. There is a reading nook in front of a window overlooking the farm, and a balcony. Access to the laundry room with a washer is through a hallway that connects to the neighboring house. Note that there is no AC or heating, because neither is necessary thanks to the weather here being about 20 C +/- 5 C (70 F +/- 10 F) all year round. If you are traveling with elderly guests or young children, we can lend you a space heater. The outdoor space is verdant and quiet. We run a small organic farm (for self consumption) on the property. You may hear some cows from the neighboring farm, but mostly it's the chirping of the many birds, and buzzing of all the pollinators that drop by daily. We are an eco friendly family. We separate trash and compost onsite. The veggies we grow are organic, and we enjoy them farm to table. Though we have a dryer, we line-dry the laundry, so your towels may not be the maximum fluffiness, but you’re helping to keep Costa Rica green! You will have full access to the house you're renting, the laundry room, as well as all the outdoor areas. You are welcome to check out our veggies in the fields, just be careful to stay on the paths with wood chips and not step onto the soil. You may not access the neighboring house (where we live with our small children and nanny) or the roofed workshop ("rancho") area. Yin will be on location (staying at the neighboring house) to help you if anything comes up. Please also note that we have a dog called Nala who patrols the outside. She is very friendly. The area is semi-rural and protected, so very green and you may run into a cow or two on the road as they make their way to pasture. People hike and bike along the road outside our house all the time, so you can do the same. We’d be happy to recommend some routes! The closest convenience store, bakery and restaurant are down the hill in Concepcion, about a 5 min drive away. Public transportation doesn't serve the road in front of the house, so a car or taxi is needed to move around. Any car will do, though, it is paved all the way to the house. Please note that pets are not allowed. If you come with a baby, we can provide you with a travel crib, baby bathtub and high chair, and some toys!
