Fox Haven Organic Farm's Spring House
Peaceful countryside surrounds you with woods, streams, and pasture. The restored farmhouse has loads of room and porches where you can soak in a sunrise and a sunset. Birders paradise! Harper's Ferry, Frederick, Shepherdstown offer loads of fun and history. Two other houses, and a re-purposed Dairy Parlor are available for retreats too. Your stay supports farm programs that we offer children and adults from low income communities, people suffering with PTSD, and other life challenges. The space Spring House is a part of Fox Haven - a historic organic farm and non-profit ecological education center located along the Catoctin Creek in Jefferson, Maryland, within one hour of Washington D.C. and 15 minutes from the charming town of Frederick, MD. The restored farmhouse is in a tranquil location, surrounded by fields, forests, and trails. When you want to explore beyond the farm, lovely downtown Frederick offers a variety of shops, award winning restaurants, parks, performing arts theaters, Frederick Keys minor league baseball, and free concerts during the summer months. Jefferson, I dare say, has one of the best pastry shops within 100 miles. Let the sweet smell of homemade donuts and cakes guide you! Harper’s Ferry, Antietam, Sharpsburg, and even Gettysburg are all within a 20-50 minute drive for those who relish civil war history. For the adventurer in you, take a rafting or tubing trip down the Shenandoah or Potomac Rivers, or head up to Annapolis Rocks for a climb, or even hike a section of the Appalachian Trail – all within 20-30 minutes of the farm. There are several wineries and ciders within 10-40 minutes of the farm that give tours and tastings regularly, as well as breweries that create some tasty beer. We take extra care in disinfecting all surfaces and linens when we clean. Guest access You have use of the entire house. Beautiful country road to walk or bike on, walking trail, a small kitchen garden await. Other things to note We teach classes on a variety of topics related to gardening, conservation, wild food foraging, herbs for wellness, and more. You are welcome to register for one during your stay. We offer garden tours and tea tastings, nature walks and beekeeping 101 with a honey tasting to groups of at least 8. This is dependent upon staff availability.
