Quiet, private and completely dark at night, great for star gazing. This remote location is up a one mile long steep private road, 6 miles from the ferry landing in Friday Harbor. Plan to bring a car. There is no public transportation to this location. Four wheel drive is not necessary, at least 6 inches of clearance is. 2 wheel drive vehicles are driven up here frequently. It is a bumpy and steep ride, and if you have limited clearance it is best to go down the way you came up. I would not recommend planning to ride a bike from here. This charmed acreage was the site of the first home built on Cady Mountain. The Hudson's Bay Co. ran sheep up here in 1840's. Now these 15 acres are part of a federal grant to restore the Gary Oak groves to the islands.
