You can enjoy near by places: Tapantí National Park, the town and the hot springs of Orosí, Monte Sky Ecological Reserve, viewpoints, the Irazú and Turrialba volcanoes (active at this time), Lakester Botanical Garden and the excellent gastronomy off the area.
