Walk Downtown-Cozy House
Walk Downtown-Cozy House
Description
Park on the premises, walk 2 blocks to the heart of Historic Downtown Flagstaff. Cozy one bedroom house affectionately called 'Hobbit House' for having low ceilings, especially in the bathroom (see description for details), queen bed, well stocked kitchen, private front porch. Safe neighborhood, quiet evenings and weekends, a very relaxing place to be so close to downtown! No TV but has lots of reading material to learn about the area. No A/C. I have 2 other separate places next to Cozy House. The space Charming and with character, this older one bedroom house easily accommodates a solo traveler or a couple. HOBBIT HOUSE is over 100 years old and is about 500 Sq Ft. It has low ceilings (maybe people were shorter back then) which are about 7 feet high with the exception of the bathroom which has a 6' 3" high ceiling. Also, time has settled the house so the floors are a bit uneven. So if you are a tall person or need to spread out keep this in mind. These characters of this older well loved home make it unique and cozy. Provided is one off-street PARKING for a small to medium size vehicle. The BEDROOM is small with a queen bed, closet and dresser for your belongings. The BATHROOM has a very comfortable and original claw tub with shower. The ceiling of the bathroom is not very high (6'3" high, one of the special characters of this home!). I am 5’3” tall and standing in the tub to take a shower, I need to bend my knees to rinse off my hair as the shower head is a few inches lower than the ceiling. If you are 5’8” tall and standing in the tub for a shower, your head will touch the ceiling. The claw tub measures at the top about 2 feet wide and about 4 1/2 feet long and is quite comfortable having the right curvature for laying back and relaxing in a nice hot bath. Adding Epsom salts (provided) and relaxing after a long day of traveling, hiking, walking, or shopping can be a very rewarding experience. Plenty of quality towels and wash rags, variety of hand and hair soaps, body lotion, hair dryer and miscellaneous toiletries should you have forgotten something. The kitchen sink just outside the door of the bathroom is the one sink for both the kitchen and bathroom. The KITCHEN is equipped with a gas stove/oven, microwave oven, refrigerator, a Mr. Coffee 12 cup coffee maker, electric kettle, full set of quality pots and pans, dishes, knives and silverware, plus glasses for adult beverages. A Brita filter is also provided but Flagstaff water is pretty good to drink right out of the tap. Also provided are a variety of teas (black, green and herbal), coffee, sugar, cream, basic spices, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I have tried to think of all the basic things needed for preparation of most simple meals but if there is anything you need, just ask me. There are many local shops selling a variety of beer and wine within minutes of walking that I could direct you to, some are bars so will be open late. Or bring your favorite with you and enjoy in the comfort of this pleasant space! LIVING ROOM has a full size couch, desk and gas heater with a fireplace window to enjoy the cool nights in comfort in the winter months and lots of books on the surrounding country in which to explore. To protect the floors I ask that you remove your shoes at the door please. I have provided many pairs of slippers for your enjoyment should you not have brought your own. OUTSIDE, relax in one of 2 spaces for your use. The front porch is very private, faces east so enjoyable with your morning coffee or tea watching the world go by and shady in the evenings to enjoy a delightful beverage during the warmer months. The back yard faces south so gets the afternoon sun and is fenced and semi-private as my other one bedroom Airbnb is close by. THERE IS NO TV AND NO AIR CONDITIONING in the home. Plenty of fans are provided during the summer months. Guest access I will meet you upon your arrival and take you into the house, give a short orientation of the space and give you keys. In the rare occasion that I will not be able to meet you, I will let you know and make sure you get keys. Other things to note Flagstaff can cool down at nights so bring enough covering to be comfortable in the evening hours and do remember we are at 7,000 feet, which takes time to adjust to this elevation for some. Be kind to yourself if you feel a bit out of breath, a nice walk downtown and the fresh mountain air will be a big help and real treat, enjoy!
