The space Welcome to Aterno, a 33 acre working wine vineyard and luxurious vacation rental. When the wrought iron gates open, you are greeted with nine acres of lush merlot vines on your left. Twenty rolling acres of beautiful cabernet comprise the other two thirds of this estate. All of the fruit produced here is sold to local, high end labels. Two homes sit on the property with architecture inspired by Tuscan landscape. Travel up the quarter mile long, gently winding driveway to the main house, lined with over seventy Cyprus trees, growing at least twenty feet tall. Take in the surrounding views of gorgeous green countryside and rich vineyard landscapes as you reach the top. A shorter driveway lined with stone fruit trees and fragrant rosemary separates the main house from the guest house, providing privacy for guests. Cyprus trees continue to surround the main home and guest house adding to the beauty and magnificence of this estate. The vineyard is steps away from the Guest house, making this a unique and one of a kind experience for guests. Travel down the driveway lined with fragrant rosemary, pomegranate and peach trees to the Tuscany inspired guest house. The two story Guest House features 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a terrace with views for 40 miles of beautiful vineyard countryside. The quaint guest home has a gorgeous budding rose bushes that climbs the exterior of the home. The front door is solid wood and hand carved, covered by an awning that is supported by two columns. Columns continue to wrap the covered patio, adding an elegant and rich touch. Enjoy the shade on a warm summer day or step out onto the beautifully manicured lawn just off the patio, trimmed with hedges and dotted with twenty foot tall Cyprus trees. Take in the rolling vineyards and breathe in the fresh air. Stepping inside, the living room is outfitted with a cozy couch and chairs, a solid wood armoire which houses a TV, and beautiful artwork collected from all over the world. Deep red tapestry drapes the windows and classic french doors open up and lead out to the covered patio. The couch in the living room pulls out into a comfortable queen bed for guests to enjoy. The main floor living areas are divided by a large archway that supports the center of the house and creates an open flow between spaces. The dining room is furnished with a solid wood table that seats six. A unique, one-of-a-kind chandelier provides light overhead and the walls are adorned with artwork reminiscent of Italian wine county. Enjoy fine wine and good company with friends and family here. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas range, oven, toaster oven, microwave, dishwasher and fridge. A rolling island adds extra counter space to prepare meals, and a built-in bar with stools is perfect for enjoying a casual breakfast, or to converse with friends in the kitchen while making your favorite meal. Custom oak cabinets, tile floors, hand picked window coverings and beautiful views out of every window will transport you to straight to Italy. The Master Bedroom is located upstairs and is outfitted with a comfortable king sized bed with high end bedding. Two windows open out to either side with views to the main house. Natural light and rich colors warm this cozy space. French doors lead out from the Master Bedroom and onto the terrace. We invite you to open up the French doors, let the breeze in and listen to the sounds of the countryside as you relax. The Master Bathroom is adjoined and has a large walk in shower and decorative mirror. The second bedroom is also located upstairs with private access to the terrace. Two single beds with wrought iron frames are divided by a large window overlooking a bubbling fountain in this French country inspired space. Luxurious linens and window coverings add beauty, and an armoire and closet provide plenty of space to unpack and unwind. A full bathroom is adjacent with a shower and tub, and continues the French country charm. From the bedrooms, step outside and enjoy the best views that this property has to offer. Watch the morning sunrise as it breaks through the fog and shines upon the rolling vineyards and breathtaking landscapes. The Aterno Estate boast rolling slopes, broad terraces and loamy soil with spots of calcareous rock create the ideal condition for good grapes here. Good fruit is also largely due to the Templeton Gap, which is defined by it’s cooler nights produced by the ocean breeze that is blown in through the gap in the ridge line. The fog from the coast travels in during the evening and early morning, creating a pronounced marine influence that enhances the grapes, and then burns off during the day to let the warm sun in. There is no better way to greet the day! A large patio table that seats six is perfect for sunset dinners on the terrace. Other things to note Please note that Aterno Estate is a working vineyard. There may be a workers from our vineyard management company on the property at any time harvesting or tending to the grapes. Typically, they start before sunrise and end by early afternoon. We do our best to inform you if activities will take place during your stay. While the Guest House is professionally cleaned after each guest, unfortunately that does not always keep all the dust and bugs from getting in. It is also possible you might hear rural sounds such as tractors, cats, dogs, owls, bugs, and other animals during your stay.
