WINTER: The cabin has driveway plow service that rotates through storms. The West Shore of Lake Tahoe gets a LOT of snow. Access is good, but be prepared for area roads with 4WD, AWD, or chains. The town plow may come through and add a berm in front of the driveway. There's a shovel on hand, be prepared to shovel a bit if the town & driveway plow do not coincide. You may also need to shovel the walkway. During big storms we'll be by sporadically to clear deck, roof & extend walkway. During big storms power can go out. Typically it is out for 1-2 hours and the utility company is great at getting it back up quickly. We do not provide refunds or discounts for power outages. During storms we do not provide a refund for snowy roads. We will provide a refund if all roads are closed for 24 hours and getting to the cabin isn't possible. If you are worried at all, we recommend getting travel insurance as we will not provide refunds or switch dates for last minute change requests due to inclement weather. Cleaning fee: For cleaning, we ask that you tidy up and put all trash in the bear bin, to discourage any curious bears from entering the house or rummaging in the trash. This is a residential area and we are committed to staying in line with the chill, quiet nature of the area. The cabin is best suited for four adults, or 2 adults with 2 children over the age of 8 (due to the stairs). The cabin is in mountains and you may encounter various wildlife. Squirrels, raccoons, deer, coyotes, and bears roam the property. Don’t bother them, and they won’t bother you. Do not feed the wildlife. You may encounter various insects both outside and inside the house. Spiders love to come indoors, and we try to minimize that, but sometimes they work their way inside. Pollen & other allergens are present in the Tahoe area. There are no refunds for pollen and other allergens in the air. Wildfires are always a threat to the area. You may encounter smoke from regional fires. There are no refunds for smoky skies; only in the event of mandatory evacuation. Keep Tahoe safe, and do not use flames of any kind in the basin. We recommend purchasing your own Travel Insurance if you are worried about snow, smoke/air quality or needing to cancel for any reason as we have a strict cancelation policy. We provide toilet paper & paper towels to get you started. Guest access At the West Shore Cabin guests can enjoy outdoor meals on the deck's picnic table (during the summer months) and experience the tranquility of Tahoe's West Shore or choose to walk & take in the neighborhood vibe of Sunnyside. Great access to Homewood and Palisade along with Emerald Bay down on the west shore. Other things to note The cabin is set up for Hi Speed WiFi, however service in the mountains can be very spotty compared to city locales. We cannot guarantee WIFI at all times during your stay, especially in the event of a power outage or wind event. If you are sending large files, you may need to consider a commercial location in Tahoe City such as Tahoe House. The cabin is in a neighborhood where the cabins are close to each other. You will have neighbors. It is a quiet neighborhood & we like to keep it that way. You will share a driveway with a studio cabin next door. There is parking for 2 vehicles in the winter and 2-4 vehicles in the summer time.
