The Cascade Suite is just what you've been looking for during your stay in Ouray. Family owned and operated. This cozy suite is located on Main Street, just blocks from trailheads, shops, restaurants and breweries. Only a 3/4 mile walk or drive to the renowned Ouray Hot Springs Pool. Your host, Jen, is knowledgable about the area and can give you all the pointers you need to live like a local during your stay in Ouray. The space The Cascade Suite is one of 5 dog-friendly apartments and is a first floor unit located in The Emilia Guesthouse. This historic building was built in 1888 to house miners from the Idorado and Campbird Mines. The 500sq ft space features a cozy living room, bedroom with queen bed, full kitchen and private bathroom. Excellent views from the patio. It's just a short walk up the hill to the infamous Ice Park and Ouray Via Ferrata. The building sits below the launch site for the 4th of July and New Year's Eve fireworks and gives an up close experience of the events! This quaint, clean and comfortable accommodation offers the perfect respite following your outdoor adventures! Centrally located and just 45 minutes to Montrose, 1 hour to Telluride, 2 hours to Durango and 3 hours to Moab. Due to the age of the building, it's suitable for children 12 and up only. Please note, this historic home does not have central air. A stand alone air conditioner and fans are available for use in each unit. Refunds will not be issued due to weather. Changes to reservation will not be accepted within 14 days of arrival. This building is in an area surrounded by several thousands of acres of wilderness in the Colorado mountains. Please understand that as a guest in this building, you may encounter a wide range of wildlife from small insects to bears. Our most frequent visitors are deer, foxes, skunks, mice, a variety of birds, and bears. Please do don't leave any coolers, dog food or like items outside at any time. Trash must be contained in the bear proof dumpster over night. In the nearby area there are elk, bighorn sheep, mountain lions, lynx, moose and other animals that are less frequently seen. We enjoy sharing the area with all critters and respect their right to be here just as much as ours. Therefore, we do not use any chemical pesticides or traps. There are ultrasonic deterants plugged into an outlet in each unit. These emit a high frequency noise to help deter insects and mice but cannot be heard by humans or dogs. There are also pepperment pouches that also deter insects and rodents but are non-toxic and safe around humans and dogs. Guest access Guests enter the through the front of the building using a keypad. Within the building, each apartment has it's own private entrance. The Cascade Suite is downstairs on the right. Other things to note There are 5 dog friendly units in the building. You may hear and encounter other renters during your stay. Parking is available on Main St in front of the building and the side street. There is limited off-street parking directly behind the building that is first come first serve. Please not that overnight parking is not permitted on Main St during months that require snow plowing. This is identified by a street sign out front. Due to the age of the building, this suite is not suitable for infants and children under 12. One quiet, house-trained, well behaved dog is welcome (no exceptions) with a $100 pet fee. A dog may be left unattended but if it is being disruptive (scratching at the door or barking/whining/howling), owners will be asked to return to attend to them immediately. If the dog continues to be disruptive to other guests, especially during quiet hours, the reservation will be terminated and the guest will be asked to leave without a refund. Ouray Dog Company is a terrific resource if your dog needs a safe place to stay while you are away. Cats and other animals are not permitted. Quiet hours 10pm-6am. Changes to reservations will not be accepted within 14 days of arrival. Registered guests only. Please double check that you’ve collected all of your belongings at checkout. A $35 fee plus shipping costs will be requested prior to mailing any forgotten items. No smoking indoors, no parties. - This is a non-smoking building (for any substance including burning incense and candles as per insurance requirements). No smoking is allowed within 15 feet of the building. Ouray is considered high desert and the risk of starting a house or forest fire is high all year. Evidence of smoking will result in a $250 deep clean fee. Please let us know right away of any damage or items that are not in working order.
