lovely 1915 house in leafy college town
The house is cool, well shaded with big trees and flooded with mottled light. A big magical backyard with two huge pines makes it feel like the North Woods. It is peaceful & serene with a big private yard and organic miro garden. In spite of some older pics there is new central air not window units. This is a very clean artists house not a hotel. This is an old but beautiful house, full of love. Please be loving and respectful. Thank you! The space The house is a beautiful four square from 1915. It has four bedrooms, two large and two smaller in the back front and side of the house.It has one full bathroom and upstairs and a small half bathroom downstairs off the kitchen. There is a huge private garden with big old growth threes. there are exposed hard wood floors through out and forced air heating. The house has fantastic southern light exposures with rooms being flooded with orange light at the front of the house in the evening. The house is situated in the leafy historic small town of Northfield, home to one of the great defeats of the Jesse James gang, and to two top ranking liberal arts colleges, of St Olaf (Known for its world famous Christmas Choir) and Mini ivy league Carlton. The Neighbourhood is three blocks walking distance from the beautiful small down town, that although very quite still bustles with a vibrant coffee house, English style pub, ethnic eateries, an Aveda hair salons, and art galleries. The two Liberal arts colleges lend a sophistication to this town without taking any from it's rustic rural charm. It has a great feel! Northfield is 47 miles south (45 mins) of the twin cities and just 5 miles off a direct drive down on Interstate 35W. There is a coach service, Jefferson lines, that services the area.
