Private room in a Chalet located within 3 miles of Jay Peak Resort. Room is located next to the shared kitchen, bathroom, and second guest room which we also rent out. A wide open living room is at the center of the chalet, great for hanging out and unwinding after a cold day of skiing, or just to relax after visiting the many offerings of Northern Vermont. The front porch overlooking the vast woods is also an excellent place for relaxing while still feeling immersed in the majesty of the forest. Despite the dark name, the Valhalla Room has plenty of light with windows on two sides. There is closet space for storing your stuff as well as additional blankets and a space heater for chilly nights. It's right next to the kitchen and downstairs bathroom for extra convenience. Guests have access to all the shared space in the house, including the kitchen, living room, and downstairs bathroom. Please note: We have a dog (Baloo) and three cats (Jamie, Cersei, and Romper Stomper). They are all very friendly. We live in the house (upstairs) with our dog and three cats. We both work from home so we are around most of the time and we love playing video/board games and socializing with guests! Alpine Haven is a small community located in the vast forests of Jay Mountain. There is a pool available in the summertime with a deep end for the adults and a shallow end for the kids. There is also a playground right next to the clay tennis courts, and a large open park equipped with fire pits and picnic tables for a nice family outing. Several trails circle Alpine Haven, too, great for cross country skiing, snow shoeing and hiking. There is a nine hole (beginner friendly) disc golf course the runs through the neighborhood park. Montgomery town is just a few miles away, with a small grocery store and several restaurants. Jay town is about 7 miles away, with its own restaurants and a great little farmer's market open every Saturday during the warmer months. And, of course, there is Jay Peak Resort, just two miles from the chalet, which has several restaurants and bars, a pizza place, delis, an excellent water park, a professional level golf course, 18 hole disc golf course, and all the skiing/snowboarding you could want. In the winter we often get lots of snow. However, the plows are extremely efficient at clearing the roads, even after a big dump. While 4 wheel drive is certainly nice, it is not a necessity. Coffee and tea are included.
