Shackleford Creek Mountain House

Shackleford Creek Mountain House is a special place where we join family and friends to explore the mountains, lakes, rivers and trails that are in the Cooper Landing area. We are situated a mile from the town center where multiple fish and river guides base their operations. Fishing, hiking and mountain biking trails are all within minutes of the house. The design of the house is open and well suited for couples and families with kids older than three. The space Shackleford Creek Mountain House is "cool", comfortable, clean, cozy, quiet and we find it to be the perfect place to base your Alaskan adventures from. We are a mile from the town of Cooper landing and just minutes from both Kenai Lake & Upper Kenai River, guide operations, fishing, hiking & mountain biking trails, restaurants and soul soothing solitude. Guest access The entire house is open for guests. On the grounds of the property are several outer structures, Guests will have access to the "gear shed" where they can safely store their gear ie... fishing rods, waders, bikes. There is also an extra refrigerator and chest freezer for storing fish while you are with us. The wood shed is always loaded with wood and is there for guests to access for burning in the wood stove only. ****NO OUTSIDE FIRES **** Other things to note This is bear country! Always be "BEAR AWARE". For your safety, the safety of our staff and future guests, It is extremely important that all guests adhere to these guidelines as it is a state law (5AAC92.230) and a class A misdemeanor that carries not only a $320 citation but a forfeiture of your deposit if you willfully feed, intentionally try to attract or neglect to secure your garbage. 1) Store all your garbage in the designated bins inside the main house or gear shed. 2) Always wash your gear and coolers at the river before you return to the house and keep them in the the gear shed. 3) Always fillet your fish on the river. DO NOT CLEAN YOUR FISH ON SITE. Simple steps of keeping your gear clean and trash inside will insure you do not have dangerous unwanted visitors. Thank You.
