Description

Welcome to a unique experience in Patagonia Argentina where you are surrounded by virgin old growth forests, pristine rivers, organic gardens, and traditional Argentine hospitality. This is one of only six private Lodge rooms with beautiful spa style shared baths, private beach and outdoor wood fired hot tubs & sauna on a spacious deck overlooking the breathtaking Azul River some 150' below. The space Our remote mountain lodge, nestled in a small valley within the 75,000 acre Rio Azul Protected Wilderness Area, is approximately one and one-half hours drive from the city of San Carlos de Bariloche, Patagonia Argentina. Lush native forests and the ever present sound of the cascading Azul and Blanco rivers define this place. All of our home-style meals are prepared with organic products from the Confluencia farm: vegetables, fresh milk, cheese, eggs, meat and hearty breads from whole grains grown and stone ground here at home. Should you have any dietary restrictions, just let us know at the time of your reservation. The design of the Lodge emphasizes shared common spaces in the tradition of country inns of a century ago: Evenings are typically spent enjoying dinner between 8PM and 10PM and then sharing the adventures of the day on comfy sofas around the fireplace or on the upstairs deck star gazing and listening to the river directly below. The spa area is another favorite spot to relax after the day’s activities, either soaking your sore muscles in one of the wood-fired cedar hot tubs or a deep cleansing session of sauna and cold plunge rounds. La Confluencia is situated approximately 15km north of the town of El Bolsón, the final 2km of which is by narrow mountain road and strictly 4WD. Crossing the Encanto Blanco River either by fording or by footbridge brings you to the Lodge itself. We gladly provide transportation from the nearest access point at no additional cost. We’ll send you all the necessary details with an info packet at the time of reservation. Our somewhat remote location has the advantage of providing direct access to the trailhead (a 3 minute walk from our front door) for exploring the Wilderness Area that surrounds us: miles of hiking and horse trails, 9 full service backcountry trekking huts, and unsurpassed scenery here in the Lakes District of Patagonia. The Lodge was conceived of and built as a model of sustainable construction. The plastered hay-bale walls create a super insultated building: cool in summer and warm in winter. Lumber was sawn onsite from local windfallen timber, fireplace and walkways are built of local stone, all energy is from renewable sources…a small hydro-electric turbine provides electricity for lighting and heating bath water, and methane gas for cooking is derived from decomposing organic waste. While the development of our farming and building practices and alternative energy sources was primarily the result of adaptations made necessary by our remote location, many guests find them of interest given the challenges of sustainable living. Guest access Common areas for guest use include living and dining rooms, movie viewing lounge, reading lounge, private beach on Rio Azul, hot tubs & sauna, organic vegetable gardens and miles of well marked hiking trails in the adjacent Wilderness Area. Other things to note We'll provide for your transportation to the Lodge from the nearest access point. We'll gladly provide transportation from El Bolsón or Bariloche at additional cost. Breakfast is included. Lunch and dinner are charged separately at a cost of $20 and $30 per person, respectively.
