Description

A peaceful escape retreat, the Aurora Lights Cabins are independent, family-run, studio cabins in a picturesque setting overlooking the Chugach Mountain Range and backed up to protected wilderness land which hosts sandhill cranes in summer and moose year-round. Our meticulously designed cabin offers unique salmon-themed decor, a king-sized bed OR 2 twin beds, black-out curtains and blinds for relaxing sleep even in the midnight sun, air conditioning, heater, bathroom, and a kitchenette. The space This is the perfect spot for a quiet stay with a comfortable bed after a long drive with another long drive the next day. In a nature-lovers haven, our Aurora Lights Cabins salmon-themed studio cabin offers either (2) twin beds OR one king-sized bed (please indicate which you want), clean, 400 sq. ft cabin, black-out curtains, and unique Alaska decor. There is air conditioning in summer (rare in Alaska) and heater in winter so you can control the temperature. The three freestanding cabins are in a row with about 8 feet between them for privacy. Cleanliness is important to us, so we follow AirBnB's 5 step cleaning process plus inspect our properties when cleaning is finished to offer you the best experience. Smoking or 420 outside (only) is fine with us. Shared fire pit area and horseshoe court. For travelers who plan to drive Fairbanks - Homer, we are a great half-way stop. The parking area accommodates all your toys, and trailers so you can bring your 4-wheelers or snow machines to go out on the trails or your boat for some boating or fishing on Big Lake. Locally, we are located 2.6 miles/4.2 km to Three Bears Grocery, gas, or the Shell convenience store and 2.9 miles to Floaters Pub (karaoke, live bands, food). Floaters also has a family restaurant. Enjoy a meal at Susitna Brewing (1.5 miles/2.4 km), or Big Lake Family Restaurant (2.8 miles/4.5 km). There are 2 coffee stands and 2 gas stations/convenience stores nearby with good made-to-order pizza at the Shell convenience store. We are only 1.7 miles/ 2.7 km to your event at Sunset View Resort. Put your boat or jet ski in at Big Lake South Recreation Site which is 1.7 miles away. For kayakers, hop in at Fish Creek park 1.7 miles away. Tourists enjoy: * Martin Buser's Happy Trails Kennel, * Alaska Dogstead Mushing, * Big Lake Boat Rentals, and * Wakesurf Alaska for some summer fun time on the lake. Wasilla and all their restaurants, events, and attractions is 17 miles south. For bragging rights in the winter, take a drive out onto the lake but stick to the plowed roads and follow the street signs. There are trails nearby for snow machining. Again, we have plenty of room for parking snow machine trailers and dog trucks for mushing. We protect our dark night skies with lighting that is able to be reduced or hidden behind buildings so that, on clear nights, you may view stars, planets, and possibly the Aurora Borealis! We are: * 17 miles (27 km) to Wasilla * 193 miles (310 km) to Denali Park * 68 miles (109.4 km) to Talkeetna * 40 miles (64.4 km) to Hatcher Pass * 61 miles (98 km) south to Anchorage * 97 miles (156 km) to Girdwood * 185 miles (298 km) to Seward * 281 miles/252 km to Homer. * 30 miles to the Alaska State Fairgrounds.
