Cozy Prossimo il Mare is located on Corcega Beach. With its breath taking view of Rincon's sunsets, it features a full kitchen and dining table to enjoy your favorite meals. It has a seating area with a comfy couch and a couple of chairs, where you could talk about you day's adventure, or simply watch some TV. The balcony's full-sized table is perfect to enjoy coffee or tea and breakfast, and grill! If you have to put in some hours, Prossimo il Mare has a small desk ideal for a laptop. The space Prossimo il Mare awaits for you with the sound of calming ocean waves, a gentle breeze to caress your body, and bright rays of sun that will make you happy. But Prossimo il Mare no longer has a pool or a beach. It wasn't always like this. In September 2017, Puerto Rico (and other Caribbean islands) was devastated by Hurricane Maria, the strongest storm to make landfall in Puerto Rico in 85 years with sustained winds of 155 mph. Trees were uprooted, homes were destroyed, and there was also widespread flooding. According to independent researchers from George Washington University, the hurricane caused 2,975 deaths in the six months following the storm. Hurricane Maria also caused catastrophic losses for about 4 miles of Rincón's beach — half of its 8-mile coast, including the beach (and pools) in front of Prossimo il Mare. And while Prossimo il Mare currently does not have a pool or beach access, the dwelling itself still has its charm and coziness. Like the many people from all over the world that helped Puerto Rico during a very dark time, we give back by donating a portion of booking fees to help provide housing for people who had to evacuate their home after a natural disaster, to help provide housing for a medical patient when they travel for an appointment, and to help provide housing for a refugee’s first day in a new country. Other things to note Puerto Rico is currently facing recurring issues with the power grid that have been resulting in power outages. This situation is outside of our control.
