The home is set back from this main road about 100' and nestled in the boulders. Due to the cabin's proximity to CA-18, it is absolutely NOT silent when guests are on the exterior of the property if/when vehicles pass by. Inside the cabin/hot tub/observation deck, you can expect more dependable silence. There is parking for 3 cars immediately in front of the property (one on the driveway and 2 more on the landing in front of the driveway). IT MAY BE DIFFICULT TO PARK MORE THAN 1-2 VEHICLES IN SNOW SEASON DUE TO SNOW-BERMS REDUCING PARKING AREA. This is expected and is outside the hosts' control. Please take note of this. Snow events can be massive. This means that many outdoor amenities can be impaired or unusable by snowfall. Pathways can be snow covered and iced over and difficult to use. THIS IS AT YOUR OWN RISK. We do our best to schedule crews to clear the snow. SNOW CLEARANCE IS NOT GUARANTEED. There are shovels/salt may be provided if the guests would like to mitigate the snow cover. Snow cover is expected and is outside the hosts' control. Please take note of this. NO DISCOUNTS. NO REFUNDS. 4x4 capability, studded tires, and tire chains are REQUIRED 10/15 - 4/15. This ensures conveyance to/from the cabin on various steep roadways which are GUARANTEED to be icy. This is YOUR responsibility. Hosts are not available to assist with immobilized vehicles either on or off the premises. If there is snow/hail/sleet/rain/wind/weather during your stay, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR GETTING YOUR VEHICLE UP/OUT OF THE LISTING. No exceptions. BRING A SHOVEL, WARM COTHES, JUMPER CABLES, A SPARE TIRE, ETC. WITH YOU TO THE MOUNTAINS. This is an adventurous destination at 6,000’ - 7,000’ elevation. The weather can have an adverse effect on your stay. Your car can get immobilized. If there is snowfall, rainfall, wind events, or mechanical trouble, it is 100% the guest’s responsibility to do whatever it takes to mobilize themselves. The hosts are NOT responsible IN ANY WAY to mobilize your vehicle under any circumstance, anytime, anywhere. You are making a STRICT | NON-REFUNDABLE booking. We strongly suggest all guests procure traveler's insurance. We also graciously ask that guests not request refunds for reasons outside of the hosts' control. You are choosing to book this listing and live like a local. As a result, you may be subject to POWER OUTAGES (of unlimited duration), WATER OUTAGES, SNOW EVENTS, RAIN EVENTS, WIND EVENTS, or PERSONAL ILLNESSES which are all outside of the hosts' control. NO REFUNDS. Other things to note When inquiring/booking the listing, please be sure you are booking for the correct number of guests in your group. Each guest beyond 1 guest (guest #1 is the person booking the property - you) is $25/guest/day+tax/fees. Pets are also subject to the same fee as guests. Please use the "Pet" selection at booking along with the correct number of pets. Daytime guests must also be disclosed at booking. Any undisclosed guests of any kind are subject to a $100 fee per guest and additional booking fees. Late check-out fees may apply if you are ANYWHERE on premises after 11AM. Please respect the hosts' and crew's schedule (which is extremely strict). Crew can/will enter the premises anytime after check-out. The property is on an extremely sloped/dangerous lot covered in boulders and has a neighbor to the West. SLEDDING/SKIING/RIDING ON ANY PREMESIS IS ABSOLUTELY PROHIBITED. The cabin is beautifully bright and sunny. We have room darkening shades on a lot of the windows - but not all of them. We recommend bringing a sleeping mask unless you want to be up early with the sun. In the mountains/forests, critters are simply a fact of life. Just a warning for those wary of bugs; even though we have the house professionally cleaned after each guest, and we use humane methods of mitigating pests where possible, we simply can't avoid the occasional critter(s) from breaking in. This includes critters related pool/spa amenities at the property. The existence of bugs in/around pool/spa amenities are 100% out of the host's control. To be clear: bug/critter sightings inside or outside the home are possible. If this is a problem for you, BOOK ELSEWHERE. NO REFUNDS. Southern California is inhabited by abundant predatory wildlife including but not limited to: coyotes, bears, snakes, raptors, rodents, arachnids, and scorpions. Although we have had exactly zero issues with any of the above, you must be very vigilant with your loved ones to keep everyone safe from local wildlife. For photo shoots/films and anything else similar, please contact us first for permission. Please note that the spa is located in a rainy/forested/dusty area. Even though the spa is cleaned/balanced/vacuumed immediately prior to your arrival, there is a 100% chance that there will be dust/sand/dirt in it. Please also note that the H₂O from the local Arrowbear Lake aquifer is high in Sulfates. This can cause the water to not be crystal clear and/or can cause excess surface bubbles if the jets/oxygenation are turned on. Skin irritation/sensitivity may occur as a result of this trace element. If either of these uncontrollable facts make you even slightly uncomfortable, please do not plan on using the spa. REITERATIVE TRAVEL ADVISORY. There is a FORESEEN LIKELIHOOD of snow events, rain events, wind events, and outage events resulting in road closures. Especially November-March. YOU ARE ADVISED TO GET TRAVELERS INSURANCE. We uphold your agreed upon cancellation policies to the letter. NO REFUNDS. POWER OUTAGES. Outages happen with relative frequency in this region due to weather events outside the host's control. This listing does not have a power generator. Approximately 2-3% of Airbnb listings in this region do. We are not one of them. We provide virtually nothing to mitigate the effects of a power outage. Guests should travel to the region assuming that there could be a power outage and prepare accordingly. Θ The EV charging option is NOT a level-2 charger. It is a Level-1 EV GFCI outlet (110V | 15A). This means bring your own charging cable with an American 110V plug at the ready. Many EV Charger manufacturers (Tesla, ChargePoint, Bosch, Enel-x's Juicebox, and more) state that the EV Chargers should not be installed onto circuits with GFCI protection. So either make sure your Charger is compatible (ours for our Tesla is) or do not plan on using the outdoor charging outlet/option. LIABILITY WAIVER - By making your reservation you and the other members in your party as THE GUESTS agree to release THE HOSTS from all liability, including financial responsibility relating to injuries & personal property damage that may occur during your stay. You understand that using the hot tub, hiking and climbing anywhere on the property is at your own risk and that special risks may be involved with using the hot tub and hiking and/or climbing. You accept full responsibility for any bodily injury arising while on the property and hold owner harmless. Finally, have fun, but treat the Shack and wildlife on the property with respect. It is a piece of history and we put a lot of love into it and we want our future guests to enjoy it as much as you. Thank you! Registration number CESTRP-2021-01574
