Description
A completely restored 160-year-old home built by one of the Fathers of Confederation, the manor has elegant ensuites and large comfortable bedrooms. It also features a mix of period furnishings, restored fireplaces, and grand living and dining rooms. Our mission is to provide our guests with a truly memorable bed and breakfast experience. We offer them comfort and luxury, surrounded by the grandeur and splendour of a time gone by. The space An additional second-floor suite is also very generous. This known as the “Keillor Suite,” named after the prominent Dorchester resident John Keillor, the area’s first postmaster, an appointee to the prestigious role in 1805. His original home is still standing and operating as a museum. A fitting tribute to the elegance of a time gone by. This room has a large sitting area furnished with a combination of period furniture and modern comforts. A very comfortable queen size sofa bed add to the comfort and capacity of the suite. Topping off the suite is a fully functional gas fireplace surrounded by the original elegant slate. Our signature en suites carry on here as well. There is a beautiful ornate period vanity, and decor. An inviting, period-styled elegant claw foot tub awaits you. Heated Italian ceramic tile floor add to the comfort of the room as do the large glass and ceramic walled walk-in showers with a rainfall head. During your stay The manor has a front porch and a grand entrance door that welcomes you to an original and elegant three-story walnut staircase, 10-foot ceilings, ornate plaster medallions, and mouldings. These lead to the grand living room, which measures 30’ x 15’. It is furnished with period furniture and décor that invite you to enjoy the restored slate and natural gas fireplace. The formal dining room, which is intimate enough for two and large enough for 18, is where our signature candlelight multi-course hot breakfasts are served. The quartz countertops, farmhouse sink, and the warmth of custom cabinetry create a wonderful combination of vintage elegance and modern functionality. Further connections to the history of the house can also be found in the kitchen. There are two sets of stairs to the servant’s quarters, a couple of quaint pantries, and an exposed brick section of chimney that comes off of the original bread oven used to warm the kitchen in the winter.
