"Magical." This second story apartment, surrounded by giant spruces, is sited at the top of the Blue Ridge mountains, with a long sweep of lawn guiding the eye to the Shenandoah Valley below. The view is stunning. Peace and quiet reign. Here it's quiet except for the chirp of birds and an occasional "woof" from our Golden Retriever. Gardens are plentiful with flowers and the smell of old boxwood. The apartment is separate from the main house, so privacy is assured. While there is one bedroom, there is also a queen size sofa bed in the living room, so the space can accommodate 4 adults easily. We also have a "bunk room" in the main house that is available upon special request. That room, with a half bath, can accommodate up to 4 people. Guests are welcome to tour the gardens. There are two portable chairs in the stair well that guests can take out to the lower lawn, to look out to the Shenandoah Valley. It's the perfect place to relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the view! We are here to welcome you when you arrive and are happy to help with whatever needs you may have. Our assistant, "Kim," may also be on hand to help with planning your stay. We are only one hour away from Washington, DC but a world away from the hub-bub. This is a unique property, located one mile "up the mountain" from a major highway, making for easy access. As you ascend the secondary road, you'll pass a delightful winery with spectacular views (and great wine!). Keep going up and you come to the farm. Angus cattle reside here, on top of the world. Continue on through the towering trees of the forest, known locally as "the cathedral." At the end of this short passage is Llanmeath, on the left, where a relaxing, delightful experience awaits. Welcome! Your car is your carriage. The rural area around Bluemont is beautiful, and activities abound throughout the area - antiquing, horse competitions, farm tours, artist exhibitions, hiking, blue grass concerts, farmers markets, and more. We are convenient to Middleburg, Leesburg, and Berryville. There are many wonderful restaurants nearby, with locally sourced menus. And if hiking is an interest, our property is just off the Appalachian Trail. FYI: Connectivity on the mountain is spotty. Cell phones work well. Wifi is not always strong.
