Description

Enjoy your own room with bathroom in an incredible private terrace at the rooftop of La Casa de Escandón, a 60s Mexican house surrounded by trees. A small oasis in a traditional neighborhood of this great city. Located 15 minutes walk from La Condesa, 2 blocks from the nearest subway station and one block from an ecobici bike station and an e-conduce motorbike station (the public bike and motor bike services). The space Experience the classical Mexican cliché “Acapulco en la azotea” in our incredible roof terrace, which means enjoy the rooftop of the house as if you were at the beach. We included the famous outdoor furniture style that takes it´s name from the well-known Mexican beach. Since the house is located on a corner you will be surrounded by trees and light and will be able to experience incredible sunrises and sunsets. Make sure not to miss them! As Airbnb travelers ourselves we wanted to create a space that makes you feel like home. As art lovers we included some art pieces from our trips and an incredible Marimekko designed duvet. We decided to install a murphy bed (pull down bed) in order to make more space for multiple activities like yoga. La Casa de Escandón is a guest house with 8 rooms with a shared kitchen. The room is located on the rooftop of the house (third floor) and is completely private, filled with lots of natural light, the terrace has pleasant views of tall green trees and plants. It is fitted with a double murphy bed, wi-fi, working table, a bar fridge, coffee maker, kettle, coffee and tea. Guest access If you want to cook you can always have access to the common kitchen that is shared with other guests who live in the house, there is a cabinet assigned to your room where you will find pans, dishes and the basics to cook. We provide towels, pillows, blankets as well as a cleaning service once a week (Monday morning), in which sheets and towels are changed. We do not have a washing machine, but there is a laundry half block away. You will also find a welcome book with all the information you need for your stay as well as our favorite things to do in the area and in the city. During your stay We are living in Kingston city, ON, Canada, but we´ll be permanently in touch through the Airbnb mailbox or phone. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or need any recommendations. As Airbnb travelers ourselves we particularly enjoy living like locals every place we go, we´ll try to offer you the same experience. Gabriel and Alicia will help us to welcome you. Check in time is flexible, we just ask you to contact us in advance to confirm what time are you planning to arrive. . Other things to note Escandón is a traditional neighborhood inching toward becoming a hipster area and is one of the most popular to live in the city. It has retained the small-town feeling, full of colorful buildings, some art deco houses, family owned businesses that have been operating for generations and is an all round superb location. This house has been in our family for 4 generations and we have witnessed the neighborhood becoming one of the most coveted places in Mexico City. It used to be a “barriada” (modest) but still retains the feeling of the old town. Walking through it´s streets you will come across small businesses that you wouldn´t imagine still exist. Like the old hatter, imagine getting a handmade hat to measure or "La tiendita de La Tía" just in front of the house, a convenience store where you can find basic products, where everyone addresses the shopkeepers as Tio (uncle) or Tia (aunt). If you want to be part of the local life don´t hesitate to say “hola tio” they will answer back to you “hola sobrino” (hello nephew). Enjoy the convenience of getting your groceries at the farmer´s market that sets up every Tuesday just 3 blocks away, close enough to take advantage to do your shopping and far enough away to continue enjoying the tranquility of the house. At the local farmers market you can find fresh fruit, cheese, meat, tortillas, spices and the Mexican flavor of local life. We are located just one block away from one of the most famous cantinas in Mexico city, El León de Oro, it was founded in 1954, and still maintains a sense of Mexico past with live mariachi every Saturday. There are free botanas after the second drink. Don´t miss it!
