Description

The Raven's Nest Skoolie is located at Ravenwood, in the pristine wilderness of the Sayward Valley. The property is 40 private acres, bordering the crystal clear waters of the Salmon River and features majestic old growth forest, grassy meadows, and many species of edible and culturally significant plants. Guests are graced with regular visits from a local herd of Roosevelt Elk and the annual salmon run draws in wildlife of all kinds. ***MINIMUM STAY: 2 nights*** The space The Raven's Nest Skoolie is a 1971 Thomas school bus that sat abandoned on our property for many years. One day, we laughingly joked about turning the bus into an Airbnb space. The seed of inspiration was planted and the dream became a reality. The Raven's Nest was designed with an ecological ethic in mind. We've decorated with the work of local artists and vendors. Our bedding is 100% organic luxury sheeting and the kitchen cabinets hand crafted by our friend, Dayne Roland, in Port Hardy. The deck wood was purchased at a local mill, and most of the interior wood was milled and ethically harvested from Ravenwood. This is 'glamping' at its finest. A cozy and comfortable forest retreat, the Raven's nest is ideal for one to two adults looking for a quiet get away. Please note that the Raven's Nest is not an ideal space for children. It is a small space with breakables within reach and is not child-proofed. Ravenwood is not a family oriented campground. If you are looking for something that is family oriented, we invite you to consider our neighbours at Sayward Valley Resort. Your host, Corinna, and her husband live at Ravenwood. Corinna is an ecopsychologist and founder of Dragonfly Healing. Ravenwood is where she runs her private practice. During your stay, you might like to experience some of her work. She offers nature-based reiki, drum journeying, medicine walks, healing quests, and nature-based counselling. You can also find her on the web by searching Ravenwood Retreats + Corinna Stevenson. Ravenwood boasts several gardens. During the growing season you can expect to see your hosts harvesting and watering gardens. There is also a gate that will be closed every night to keep elk and deer from wandering in and helping themselves to our veggies. If you leave the site after the gate is closed, please close it again when you return. There is an electric fence the perimeter of the garden so take care not to touch the metal wire! Ravenwood is a healing forest. If you're looking for peace and quiet or to reconnect with self and nature, the Raven's Nest is the perfect place to stay. Note: The bus is located on a main part of the property with access to our beautiful walking trails. The main house, where the hosts live, does not have a view to the bus. Ravenwood’s Forest Cabin, which is also an Airbnb unit is next doorto the Raven’s Nest. Please be respectful of each others' desire for privacy and peace & quiet. Ravenwood is located in a remote forest setting. We share our home with critters of all kinds including the occasional spider, bug, and mouse. Bits and pieces of the forest floor often find their way into our home. The Raven's Nest is part of the forest. Staying here means having to be okay with these kinds of things. Guests are expected to be self-sufficient.The Raven's Nest is a glamping experience that invites you to reconnect with wilderness. If you are looking for a luxury hotel, this is not that. The bus is a bus. When something needs attention, our remote location means we need to be creative with solutions. It also means that services are limited and not immediately available. We always do our best to address issues and appreciate your understanding, patience, and flexibility. Buses have low ceilings. 6 feet in height. Living and staying in remote locations requires that you be prepared to be self-sufficient. Guest access You have access to the entire property, with exception to the area where our home is. The property is 40 acres so there is plenty of wild space for you to enjoy. We ask that you respect our privacy by not walking through our living area.
