Gorgeous mountain view at Highlandview House!
Description
Gorgeous mountain view on Cabot Trail. Private semi-detached cottage with own entrances. Close to Celtic Colours and Gaelic College. Hiking, beaches and artisan craft shopping nearby. Bright and spacious self-contained cabin with a full kitchen and large shower. 1 bedroom with comfy king-size bed. Open concept living room with lovely view of the Cape Breton Highlands. Highlandview House uniquely contains 2 completely separate cottages although they appear joined by the front of the house. The space Welcome to the "Lighthouse Cottage" side of Highland View House! Bright and cozy, yet spacious, this cottage on the Cabot Trail is perfectly situated to explore the delights of the island. Relax in your king-size bed after a day of sightseeing mountains and ocean, hiking, swimming...or browsing the local artisan shops. Drive around the Cabot Trail and return in time to watch the sun set over the Cape Breton Highlands from your living room picture window. The kitchen is bright and well-stocked with dishes and pots if you'd like to cook (fridge, stove, microwave, kettle, toaster, drip and Keurig coffee-makers). The kitchen/living room is open concept, with a lovely view whether you're sitting at the kitchen table or cozying up on the sofa. (There is also a tv with Netflix if you want to unwind between adventures.) The mountains are beautiful at any time of day but especially at sunrise and sunset. In the fall the colours blaze over the hills and you have a front row seat. Come and visit our island - we look forward to hosting you! Guest access You will have private use of the entire cottage (west side of the house), seating area outside your side kitchen door and fire pit in the back yard area. You are also welcome to roam the meadow, woods and trails there. You have roomy private parking at the back of the house close to your door. Other things to note We practice friendly social distancing and offer contactless check-in and check-out. We will give you your space, but are always happy to help if you have questions or need something. As mentioned there is no cellular service at the house due to the beautiful mountains. The nearest cell reception is about an 8 minute drive away. The house does have reliable wifi and an internet phone is available for 911 or necessary outgoing calls. The nearest grocery store, liquor store and gas station are in Baddeck, about a 30 minute drive from the house so it is best to stock up before you arrive. The local restaurants usually close around 6 pm in summer and fall except for Simply Pizza which opens till 8pm, so if you are arriving later you would need to eat before you come or cook something when you arrive. IMPORTANT NOTE: Gas is only occasionally available at the Wreck Cove General Store - even though the Internet says it's all the time. :) We are very happy to take well-behaved dogs but we ask that you take your dog with you when you go out exploring and not leave them unattended in the house, they'd rather go exploring with you. Although we live in the cottage on the other side of the "house", the only areas we would potentially share are the large parking area and the woods and trails. (From the front it looks like one house, but internally the cabins are separated by 5 feet of space and only "joined" by the front porch.)
