The distance to the nearest sandy beach with lifeguard supervision is 1 mile by car . Beautiful Port Hood island is an extension of the community located just a mile offshore. Route 19 along western Cape Breton island is also called the Ceilidh trail and is known for world renowned music and Scottish heritage. The Red Shoe Pub, owned by some of the infamous Rankin family is a must for live entertainment. The Glen Breton Distillery, North America’s 1st single malt whisky is nearby. 30 minutes from the Cabot Links a new world class golf course.
