Let our bright airy neighborhood home be your base for experiencing the delights that Vieques has to offer - secluded beaches, Bio Bay, snorkeling with sea turtles. Start with your morning coffee in the shady, secluded gazebo, or take a nap in the hammock on the front porch. Meals can be prepared in the full kitchen, or savor local foods nearby. Enjoy the sights and sounds of this beautiful quirky small island. The space Casa Magnolia is nestled into a rustic neighborhood in the north-west corner of Esperanza, the tourist hub of Vieques. It is about a 10 minute walk to the beautiful Malecon with its amazing ocean views, fabulous restaurants, gift shops, and Bio Bay tour pick-ups. The closest beach (Coconut Beach) is just beyond the Malecon. Colmida Lydia is right around the corner for grocery basics. Two bright, open, airy houses: Casa: *2 Bedrooms with queen beds (max capacity 4) *1 (cozy but full) bathroom with rain shower head * Open main floor plan with kitchen, dining room, and living room Casita: Studio unit with - *Step down to sleeping area with queen bed (max capacity 2) *1 full bath (currently separated by a curtain - we hope to upgrade to a door soon) *kitchen with stove top, microwave, coffee maker, and full size fridge Small separate laundry room with washer and dryer Backyard private gazebo surrounded by palms and Bird-of-Paradise plants Amenities: *Personal check-in by an experienced property manager who will provide local tips for a wonderful stay *Mini-split A/C in every bedroom, plus one in main living area of Casa *Fans throughout to help circulate the air *Fast, reliable wireless internet in both units *Propane BBQ grill with grilling tools *1 smart TV in main house living area with guest mode so you can sign in to your own subscriptions while you are here *6 Beach chairs, beach towels, and 2 coolers *Paperback beach reads for you to enjoy *Small selection of games for a rainy day Guest access Guests will be met at the house for check in. Directions will be given with check in instructions. Our house manager will introduce you to the house and can give you tips about best restaurants and places to go. Two (2) off-street parking spaces, one inside the gate and one in front of the house. Other things to note How to get a good night's sleep: Vieques has a healthy chicken population, and our neighbor owns his own flocks. Be prepared for the dawn (or even 3am!) chorus of roosters. While closing windows and running the AC does help to minimize the noise, their crowing may still be audible. To help you rest peacefully, we've placed earplugs in the nightstand drawers to further block out unwanted noise. Similarly, we’ve installed light blocking shades in the bedroom windows to help darken the room. What is that smell? Vieques is a rustic little laid-back island - horses, dogs, cats, roosters, and iguanas roam free. Trash pick up is roughly once a week. Unfortunately, this means things can sometimes get smelly. We have provided initial air fresheners to combat those less than ideal "fresh air" moments. Refills can be found at most of the local grocery stores. Walkability: We have found the level of walkability down to the Malecon to be highly variable depending on the guest. Some find it easy, some report it as too hilly. The island is very hilly in general so please keep this in mind when planning your excursions. We definitely recommend renting a vehicle to explore the island. Off-season: June 1st through mid-NUovember is the "off season" for tropical locations. Our booking prices reflect this. Utilities: Vieques experiences occasional power, water, and internet outages so this is to be expected when booking. If this does happen, they are often restored in a few hours, so we ask for your patience. If it is taking longer to restore, reach out to us and we will see if we can identify when service will be available again.
