Welcome to Savary Island, one of the most beautiful islands in the Straight of Georgia & considered by many as the Maui of BC. Located at the entrance to Desolation Sound, it is accessible by float plane, boat, barge or water taxi from Lund. Savary is an oasis of white sand beaches famous among vacation seekers and locals alike. You will find some of the warmest,clear swimming waters here surrounded by stunning ocean & mountain views, home to many unique fauna & flora found only on Savary. The space You will find all the comforts you need with a fully equipped kitchen , gas stove,well-water and solar electricity and cozy wood-burning stove. We provide toilet paper and tea towels and kitchen cloths . Guests will need to bring their own bed linens (flat/fitted sheets & pillow cases-king-size & standard) as well as bath & beach towels. We supply all blankets/duvee covers and pillows. Cell reception is very good here as the cottage is situated on the high-bank waterfront. The public (Julian Rd) beach access is only a 5 min walk away to the sandy Meadows Beach below. We recommend that guests bring all their food, and belongings in Rubbermade bins 16"16"x24". All garbage and recyclables have to be taken off the island upon departure. Lund has a pick up truck on the dock that takes garbage for a fee. Guest access The journey to sandy Savary Island by ferry, bus and/or car takes you through some of the most beautiful scenery that the Sunshine Coast has to offer. If you are coming from Vancouver you will take the Horseshoe Bay to Langdale ferry, followed by an approxiamate one hour drive to the next ferry leaving from Earls Cove. (In the summer month allow extra time for travel.) From Saltry Bay (Powell River side) it is only another 1/2 an hour drive to Powell River to do your last minute shopping and then another 1/2 hr drive to Lund where you will park your car and unload & load all your supplies and belongings onto the (reserved) water taxi for your 12 min boat ride to Savary Ils. Land taxis to the cottage will need to be pre-booked with the Lund Water Taxi (bikes are an added $2 charge). Weekly parking is available through "The End of the Road" Parking at the top of the hill or hourly & daily parking at the Lund Hotel. If you are coming from Vancouver Island, the 90 minute Comox ferry will get you right into Powell River. We will meet all our guests at the water taxi and upon arrival at the cottage will give you a full orientation of all services and amenities to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Going to Savary Isl. is one of those destinations where the journey is just as exciting as the destination!
