Our calendar is always up to date, too! The 125-square-foot Micro Cabin was inspired by the tiny house movement. Guests should be aware that this is a tiny cabin, which means -- it is a tiny cabin! The space is small but bright and airy, with high ceilings and lots of windows and natural light. We think you'll find it to be carefully laid out and thoughtfully appointed. In the winter the cabin stays very warm and cozy, even on the coldest nights. We are very close to the ocean so it seldom gets very cold here and rarely snows. The full-size bed is made up with 100% cotton linens to ensure a good night's sleep. The kitchen is well stocked with all that you need to make something delicious. The bathroom is a fully tiled wet bath like that on a boat. There is plenty of outdoor space here on our private acreage to sit and daydream or finally start writing that novel. Relax at the picnic table with a mug of hot tea and watch the sunrise or gaze at the stars. If you're lucky you might see one of our resident deer and her two fawns wandering around the property. Black bears live here, too! Our small homestead is one of the oldest in Roberts Creek on the Sunshine Coast. We live on the property in the original farmhouse that was built in 1926 for the area's first school teacher. We look forward to sharing our slice of paradise with you. Take the Langdale ferry from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver. It's a 40-minute ferry ride for which you only pay one way (the return trip is free!). Reservations are strongly recommended in the summertime to avoid long waits. From the Langdale ferry terminal, we are just 10 minutes away by car, or a quick bus ride. We are also easily accessible by public transit from the Langdale Ferry Terminal. If you're a cyclist, we are located in a perfect spot for a break. Fun things to do in Roberts Creek include swimming at the local beach, checking out the mandala at Roberts Creek Beach that is hand-painted each year by the locals, going for a walk in Cliff Gilker Park up the road, and watching the sunset from the end of the Roberts Creek pier. There's a nice hike about forty minutes from here at Smuggler Cove, a steep but short hike to see a terrific view at Soames Point in Gibsons, snowshoeing up on Dakota Ridge, great burgers and sushi up in Madeira Park, self-guided private gallery tours, kayak rentals, or a visit to Persephone Brewery in Gibsons or Brickers Cidery in Sechelt. Another neat thing to do is to venture all the way to the end of the peninsula to see some of the world's biggest standing waves at the Skookumchuck Narrows or stop by the Iris Griffith Nature Centre. If you're feeling cozy, grab a bottle of wine from the General Store or make a mug of hot tea, wrap yourself in a soft blanket and dive into a good book or sit on the end of the pier and watch for the grey or humpback whales that frequent our shore.
