My picturesque, 250-year-old, recently remodeled home has a stream in the backyard, just a 20-minute drive to Hudson and the Berkshires, or 5 minutes to Chatham and Ghent. Bright and airy with lots of windows, this Historic New England saltbox style house has the original marble fireplace, beams and floors with all modern amenities—a great B & B feel for friends, family and couples, on wedding weekends or for extended weekend stays... no matter what the season. Great for friends, a couple or a family for college visits, wedding parties, romantic getaway or just because. Our home was built in 1760 and offers a combination of informal country charm and modern conveniences. Use as base to explore Columbia County, the Berkshires or just relax. Ideally situated between Hudson, Stockbridge and Williamstown. Authentic, comfortable and family friendly. Sleeps four easily. Two bedrooms upstairs-- one with an antique double bed, the other with two antique twin beds. Downstairs bedroom has an antique double bed. Bath has shower and vintage tub. Fully equipped country kitchen with six burner Italian stove, large European frig, chopping block and cast iron sink. Dining room seats ten. House is organized and stocked with several options for coffee, tea and cooking supplies. Sheets, comforters, and towels are provided. Rustic backyard along stream with Adirondack furniture and umbrella, wood and gas Weber BBQ grills, hammocks in the trees. Situated on one acre. The immediate area is great for biking and hiking on public land conservancy marked trails. Farm visits and stables. Local firehouse and historical society events (concerts, art shows, pancake breakfasts, pasta dinners) down the road. Family friendly with large selection of board games; croquet and sports stuff, adult bicycles with helmets and pumps. Season or day passes available for purchase from nearby lake club. Convenient five minutes by car to Chatham Main Street with 24-hour grocery, wine store, pubs and restaurants, movies, yoga studios, organic stores and markets. 15 minutes to trendy Hudson with bar and music scene, upscale dining, shopping, antique hunting, people watching, farmers market, Amtrak Station, taxi/car service, car rental, limo service. Equidistant to the cultural scene in the Berkshires, including Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony. NEARBY CHATHAM Five minute drive to Chatham’s historic Main Street with town hall, clock tower and vintage movie house with first run movies and documentaries. Pub and restaurants, patisserie, wine store and cheese shop, bakery and coffee spots, organic shop and market, toy store, galleries, farmers markets and roadside stands, tag sales, mammoth 24-hour grocery store. Public swimming pond, stables and Hawthorne Valley farm visits, annual antique car show, film festival, garden tours and county fair. Churches of various denominations. Tennis courts, general store and arts academy in Spencertown. Private airfield in nearby Ghent. Woodstock is not far. FUN ALL YEAR ‘ROUND Easy access to Berkshires: Tanglewood, summer home of Boston Symphony, Stockbridge and Norman Rockwell Museum, Shaker Museum and Tannery Pond concerts, Great Barrington cultural scene. Antiquing abounds in Sheffield, Great Barrington, Hudson, Rhinebeck and many other surrounding towns. Nearby auction houses include Meisner's, Copake Auction, Stair Galleries. Activities and Attractions: Antiquing, hiking, golfing, canoeing, kayaking. Fishing, hunting, dining, skiing, snowboarding, tubing and lots of upstate rural charm. Catamount ski area has an adventure park with zip lines. Jiminy Peak is a 40 minute drive. Miniature golf, driving range in nearby Hillsdale. Our home is 30 miles south of the Albany International airport, a 45-minute drive. Two hour AMTRAK train ride from NYC along the Hudson River to Hudson NY, fifteen minutes away from our home by car, taxi, limo. Enterprise Car rentals available in Hudson. Your home away from home is equidistant by car (2.5 hours) from NYC and Boston. Bus service is also available from NYC and Boston to nearby Great Barrington, Massachusetts.
