We built a studio-house on the foundation of an old summer cottage. We did not expand the footprint, but furnished it with select pieces and appliances and gave it contemporary finishes. We also added a screened porch, open deck and stone patio. The woodland and mountain views are lovely, while the location is convenient to Lake Minnewaska State Park and the Mohonk Preserve. Other things to note As we were having this small house built, purchasing and installing the windows was a big event. We spent time designing a space with lots of windows to take in the beautiful view, but allowing for a feeling of privacy in the area where we placed the bed. We love our windows so much that we have had no treatments of any kind put on them. We use a septic system. Please do not put anything other than septic-safe toilet paper into the toilet.
