Shorebird Cottage is located on Kachemak Drive and managed by Baycrest Lodge. You may be fortunate enough to meet the owners, Ken & Wilma, who live right next door. The cottage is hidden gem! To get there you weave through a typical Alaskan, mixed use property....boat shop....broken down vehicle....and then you enter the property Shorebird Cottage is perched on and you'll be thankful for the road that brought you there! ***We are NOT your typical vacation rental! Leave the cleaning to us! We request that guests do NOT strip our beds or wash any of our linens. If you have quite a few dirty dishes, starting a load would be very much appreciated but not required. You can truly be on vacation when you stay at a guest home at Baycrest Lodge!*** Isn't the view amazing? It's the perfect spot to watch for birds and the incredible sunrise and sunsets we are blessed with! The cottage just received a remodel (finished in Feb 2021) which included all new flooring, interior paint, new shower/tub surround, toilet, kitchen backsplash, some new light fixtures, all new furniture, etc. The outdoor hot tub runs year-round and its lid opens so that you don't see the owners' house when you're sitting in it. Guests have access to a parking spot in the driveway, the cottage and the yard/hot tub in front of the cottage. Please let the owners who live on site have their privacy. Baycrest Lodge does not own this cottage, we manage this property for a private owner. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions prior to or during your stay. We are more than happy to help! We highly recommend a car There is no beach access from this property. There is public access less than 1/4 mile away (heading towards the spit) or multiple access points on the spit. Hot tub policy: The hot tubs are for paying guests only for their reserved unit's hot tub. We do not allow non paying guests. Showering is required prior to entering hot tub. Children must be supervised by parents or responsible adult. Use hot tub at your own risk. We will be by DAILY to clean the hot tub. After each use, please replace hot tub cover and bungee/tie downs. You will be charged to replace the lid if it gets carried away in the wind or it's left open all night. If we have to drain and refill the hot tub due to abuse and/or excessive dirtiness, you will be charged $350.
