I grew up in the area ,and still live in the main house on the property. (Where I raised my kids to behave much better than I did ) 🙂 There are homeless people that travel the alley looking for recyclables. No guest has had an issue or been bothered but they are a part of the social fabric of all big cities. 🙂 Sorry it's kind of a gritty urban alley ,but I'm on great terms with the building managers from both apartment buildings across the laneway. There are are many eyes on the street from the apartment residents. My front Street is beautiful with ancient giant Elm trees , classic old houses ,parking and a very busy bike lane.😁 Please look at my front avenue and neighborhood before judging my whole place by the alley is all I ask 😆. A rare few guests have mentioned it in reviews and it depicts an unfair description of the area as a whole. I'm ex Edmonton Peace Officer with many years service. I've almost seen it all.🙂 If you feel unsafe I am available to watch you get in okay on the remote CCTV security camera's from my cell phone. Try to give me some notice of time please🙂. I do turn off my ringer to sleep sometimes. The parking is MUCH closer to the loft than most hotel parking lots .( right outside the door basically) If you love cities and old gentrified areas with hundreds of high end ,shops and restaurants then my place is for you !!!🙂 The guesthouse apartment is located in Old Strathcona,which is one of only 2 designated Alberta historical up districts and one of the top 5 shopping districts in Canada. The one bedroom airconditioned apartment is constructed of recycled metal shipping containers, set on top of a concrete garage. It was built by the Edmonton company Honomobo. (HO3 model) It has zero carbon heating which costs me a fortune in the winter...enjoy😆. I plan to add solar panels to make it next zero in the future. .......Plus this way I can eat on Tuesdays and Thursdays again 😆 WHOLE HOME FILTERED WATER!! Pure water experts deluxe filtration system filters all water from taps ,shower ,washer and dishwasher. NO NEED TO BUY BOTTLED WATER! Enjoy softer hair and skin from a chlorine free filtered shower or bath ! the unit includes high end appliances, an 8 FOOT HOME THEATRE SCREEN /HIGH DEF PROJECTOR, and a reclining faux leather couch. Sorry no Netflix. I offer DVD's ,YouTube and Tubi . High quality stainless steel cookware,as well as toaster and a microwave. Ninja blender is available upon request . The second bed is a high quality fold out single bed with a foam mattress topper. It can be set up in the bedroom or living room area depending on guest preference. ***-PLEASE NOTIFY IF YOU NEED THE SECOND BED UPON BOOKING DUE TO PREPARATION. thanks 🙂 The unit is located steps from the following: Whyte Ave...literly a rocks throw between two apartments 🙂..but don't throw rocks please two 24 hour convienience stores right on the corner . Several grocery stores including 3 organic. (K and K Foodliner is an old German grocery store located about a half block away-99th and whyte. They still process and smoke their meats. Many bakeries are available in the neighborhood,with Empress and Boulangerie very close by. Many others as well. Hundreds of Restaurants and shops in Old Strathcona. liquor store and a nice wine store steps away. There are many Cannabis stores in the area. Two retro art movie theaters,as well as several live theatres are with in walking distance. Several used book shops are around the old Strathcona area with in walking distance. Alhambra is on 81 ave and about 102 street ,and Wee book inn is on Whyte ave and 103 street ,and is open till midnight 7 days a week. Old Strath books is 1.5 blocks away on 96 and Whyte ave. A 23 foot balcony is there for smoking, outdoor dining or just some fresh air. The balcony is closed in cold weather winter months (Nov till April) ,but smoking can be done just outside the main door stairs landing. Other things to note The best way to access Whyte Ave,the corner transit hub, and the corner 7 11, if walking is to use the walkway between the apartment across the alley with red balconies and the old house. The alley is safe ,however some homeless people. If you're returning late and feel uncomfortable message me and I can come out from the main house and meet you and see you in safe 🙂
