Apartment in a lovely character home right on the corner of several parks, the Joseph Zaztman Sportsplex, and right up the street from the Halifax Ferry and a major bus terminal and the bridge that takes you into the Heart of Halifax. A private deck overlooking the parks. Both beds have private bedrooms, with an inviting living room to hang out in, with smart TV and internet provided. Hang out in downtown Halifax & Dartmouth, then come home for a cozy, quiet sleep in this private apartment. The space Please note, this building is over 100 years old. We are updating it as we can and have done what we can with the space in the meantime. It has very old central air and can smell a bit like, as one guest said, "grandma's house." It's still a well located spot and we make sure it's clean, comfortable, and well stocked, and we are responsive hosts. There are two sets of stairs to climb. First from the sidewalk to the front building door, then from the entry to your top unit. There are only 1 short flight each. Smart 42” Roku TV with Prime TV included. Plush cushions and throw blankets, high quality sheets. It’s own dedicated high-speed internet! Propane BBQ and lights on the deck. Brand new deck as of September 2024. During the summer we provide a portable AC unit, we set it up in the living room but you're welcome to move to a bedroom if you wish. LOCATION! This space is the best for location. Right next to the Sportsplex, the Dartmouth Commons, Downtown Dartmouth, Alderney Landing with the Halifax Ferry, the Halifax Harbour, and the bridge into the Heart of Halifax. Not to mention it's right next to several parks including an off-leash dog park, with a nice little deck overlooking them. AND!! A large family fun Splash Pad RIGHT NEXT DOOR), like literally next door, your balcony overlooks the space. Spend a nice morning with some coffee (grounds and powered whitener and sugars provided) or tea (a selection provided) outside on the new deck listening to the kids playing, or the bag pipes coming from the park across the street (over the summer months). Each bed is in a private bedroom. Old-fashioned character home with mostly original wood flooring. Beautiful colours, lots of light. Please note, there is no traditional oven/stove, but there are lots of options that make up for that. There's a single stove-top burner on the counter, and a double burner underneath, as well as a plug-in skillet, rice cooker, a microwave, a toaster oven, and a crock pot. If you rent this unit please do not lower the rating based on there not being an oven/proper stove as you are forewarned. But there are so many great things about the unit who even needs an oven! Yes it's old, and yes there's some things lacking in terms of aesthetics, but we are constantly upgrading as we can afford it, and we provide all the basics plus a little more, and make sure it's clean and comfortable. This is a completely private apartment. The house has been split into three units, this one is the whole top floor, with two downstairs. The only shared space is the common entry (like any apartment building), and then you go upstairs to your own sealed off apartment. You can park in the backyard, but it's a super tight driveway so please be careful. Only a regular car sized vehicle will fit, no larger vehicles will. Otherwise there's two street parking spots out front (free), with lots of street parking around the neighbourhood. If you park in the backyard, please DON'T park right to the right, another tenant parks there. What I do is I pull in to the right, then back it up right along the fence so I'm facing the driveway, but back it right up so the other tenant can come and go around you. Pictures are in the check in guide. There is now a construction site nearby. During the warmer weather with the windows open you will be able to hear it. IT IS NOT like a TV show with constant blasting and banging sounds. There's some banging, then quiet, maybe a yell, it's not that bad. It's also silent (the site) overnight at least. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND that in Airbnb terms, 5 stars is "as expected," as in, does it match the description here and the photos? Did we, the hosts, respond to you within 30min to answer questions and address any issues you may have as best as possible? 4 stars is "failure," and anything below 4 is basically "burn the place down it is uninhabitable." We know it's not a 5 star luxury hotel, but we feel we communicated everything both positive and negative and priced the place accordingly. Guest access The entire apartment, laundry facilities, bathroom, and the deck are all yours. The only thing you share is the front door to the building, and that’s only with two other small units.
