Description

Conservancy land on three sides offers great privacy for you to experience the cedar-scented air, starry skies and lake views from this mid-century modern home in the heart of Tahoe's magical West Shore. The space On the main floor, in the living room, enjoy a crackling fire from the window seats with forest and lake views. The kitchen is fully equipped with an easy-to-clean range, microwave, everything you need to make memorable meals served on a complete set of Blue Willow dishes. On the main floor you'll find a powder room, a dining table that easily seats eight, a 42" smart TV--no cable, but you can watch movies and TV shows on Youtube or from your Amazon Prime, Netflix or Hulu account-- a Chickering piano, and floor-to-ceiling cathedral windows overlooking forest and lake. The house has three levels accessed by stairs--the main living area with kitchen, dining room and living room, the upper loft level and the lower level with four bedrooms. You'll have five bedrooms, one of which is a large loft above the living area with a gorgeous view of the lake. Please use caution with young children in the loft, where you will find a full bath and a single day bed separated by a closet area from a queen-size (Beauty-Sleep hotel quality mattress) bed. My favorite comment from a previous guest about waking up in the loft, "The view is unreal!" On the downstairs level is a full-sized bathroom, a laundry room and four bedrooms. One downstairs bedroom has a two twins with 10" thick mattresses. The second bedroom has a double-bed and with a sliding glass door onto a peek-of-the-lake-view deck. The third bedroom also has a double bed, and a door to the deck. The fourth and largest bedroom downstairs has a queen-sized bed (Beauty-Sleep hotel-quality mattress) and views of the lake. All beds are made up with a variety of down and non-down pillows, cotton and fleece blankets and down-filled or silk-filled comforters. The house is located 2.5 miles south of charming Tahoe City and five miles north of Homewood ski area. Other ski resorts, including Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows are an easy drive. Two miles away is family-friendly Granlibakken which not only has skiing, but also sledding, and a ropes course. The house comes with passes to the private, gated Tahoe Park beach which offers three acres of amenities including piers, playground equipment, lakeside picnic tables with BBQs and 750 feet of homeowner's-access-only beachfront. You can walk to the beach from the house, or drive in five minutes. One mile up the street, you'll find the trailhead to Paige Meadows. Here, depending on the season, world-class hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing lie at your feet. A paved bike path right down the street leads to Tahoe City--for a leisurely bike ride through the pines. Back at the house, enjoy a BBQ on the deck. Sunnyside restaurant, Firesign cafe, Tahoe Bakery, Sunnyside Market and a paddle-board and bike rental shop are part of the neighborhood charm. The central location of the house makes it easy to enjoy everything Tahoe has to offer, without an electrical wire or more than one neighbor to spoil the view! The code to the high-speed internet is found as soon as you walk in the door. We speak French, mais pas tres bien, and pretty good Russian. We'll be in contact as much or as little as you like--just an email away. This is a private home, allowing for a maximum of eight guests. There is a parking deck that holds two cars. Due to weight and street safety concerns, park a maximum two cars on the parking deck. May to November you can park on the street in a turn-out right by the driveway. In the winter, due to snow plowing, there is no street parking, plan your car situation carefully. $100 pet fee, per stay. $355 cleaning fee per stay. Our housekeepers are legally paid and therefore they receive all the benefits of regular employment. You can enjoy a spotless house knowing that no one was taken advantage of to get it that way. The house is set up with linens on all the beds, ample towels, soap and toilet paper in the bathrooms, and towels, dishwasher soap, trash bags and paper towels in the kitchen. Guest access Included with your stay are passes to the Tahoe Park Association-- 750 feet of private lake front beach shared by homeowners just a few minutes from the house. Other things to note The wild animals we share this area with include chipmunks, mice, rabbits and black bears. You may see a spider in the house, or if it rains, ants might decide to venture inside. I have a pest control service come out to prevent total takeovers, but I don't like to overdo with spraying and using toxic chemicals, so there is a good chance blue jays and hummingbirds will visit in season. Please leave no trash on the property (except in the locked metal bin) to tempt bears. You can pick up wood and/or kindling for the mid-century freestanding fireplace at Savemart or Safeway in Tahoe City. Electrical outages due to harsh weather or fire season do happen in the Tahoe area. Liberty Utilities does its best to get crews out to fix downed wires, but be prepared by having one meal that is something that you don't have to cook, like sandwiches, as well as solar or battery chargers for your phones. There is a stack of board games under the window seat in the dining room for these occasions! The most recent outage happened in the middle of the night, and the electricity was restored by 8 am. For ski season to happen, we need snow. However, in the winter highways can be affected by inclement weather. The road going up to the house is steep. The region is accustomed to dealing with snow, and the road is plowed on a regular basis. The schedule for clearing the road, like the weather, is not under our control. Carry chains, water, and monitor road conditions for your trip.
