Just blocks from the best restaurants, night life and a couple miles from the Capital Square and Farmers Market. The back porch provides a tranquil, peaceful setting to unwind with family or after a day of work. This home has been loved by our family for 42 years and we continue to enjoy sharing it with guests from all over the world! The home has much of its original character in tact. Beautiful original hardwood throughout and original cabinetry; patina! Two private bedrooms both with queen beds and a full bathroom with tub separating the bedrooms. The house has a truly secluded feel being tucked on a quiet, private drive with two designated parking spots in the driveway. The porch is just 30 feet from the Yahara River bank and gives the perfect spot to relax, have a fire, grill out and watch boats pass as they head to Lake Mendota or Monona. The living and dining room area open with tons of natural light flowing in from the porch area. There is a 60 inch flat screen tv, high speed internet, WiFi, a comfortable couch, love seat and lounging area. Netflix and Amazon Prime are available for movies and TV shows on the Amazon Firestick. You will most likely find it hard to stay inside with the scenery off the back porch. Kitchen is fully stocked with the essential cooking utensils; pots, pans, glassware, stove, microwave and refrigerator. Willy Street Co-op (mostly organic grocery store) and Festival Foods are both just a couple blocks from the front door. The home has two bedrooms with queen beds that are each decorated with a nautical touch. The living area has a couch, love seat and recliner. Guests have full access to the main level of the home. The upstairs attic area is just storage and not accessible or livable for guests . It is not a separate unit, just not available for use with this rental. Check in and check out is all done virtually, with an access code provided before check in. I do live in the area and am available if needed, but privacy is given to all guests and will only stop by if the driveway needs shoveling or a guest requests help with something. This neighborhood has more to do than you'll likely have time for. Mickeys Tavern, on Willy Street is right across the river and down the bike path a few steps. It was voted the "Best Burger in Madison" and their 'sexy fries' are to die for. The Atwood Avenue area is just two blocks the other direction and has an array of restaurants, bars, breweries and a theatre. Some of my favorites being Alchemy, Tex's Tubbs, One Barrel Brewing and Wilson's Bar. The Barrymore Theater is on Atwood, TWO breweries, and too many restaurants to count. I have tons of other suggestions depending on what you're looking for, just ask! The house is approximately two miles from the State Capital, and a cab or Uber to the square should be less than $10. The bike path across the river is great for walking all the way to Capital Square and is a 25 min leisurely walk. There is a city bus service and city bike rentals available. If you're staying in the Willy Street or Atwood area you can walk to just about any place in the neighborhood in 15 minutes or less!
