Private First Floor Apartment of an 1849 historical home in the heart of Middletown, CT. One block to Main street with many great restaurants, Wesleyan University & across from the public library. Lovely fenced in yard, ornately covered side porch. Full and private First Floor Apartment of 1849 Greek Revival Brick Home with Italianate detail. Wide floor boards, giant wood moldings, exposed brick in the beautiful and semi professional kitchen and floor to ceiling windows. This apartment features a spacious and lovely master bedroom with a decorative fireplace, plaster ceiling details and a Sleep Comfort California King size bed. A second bedroom/office features a queen size bed and gets great light all day long. There is also an American Leather Sleeper Sofa in the living room with extra padding. All rooms feature hard wood floors, except the bathroom is tiled. Kitchen has a lovely bump out bay area with floor to ceiling windows featuring a round wooden table creating a cozy and beautiful eating area. The kitchen opens to the fenced in backyard with a patio and a primitive fire pit along with areas of shade and sun and a tire swing. We have a quarter of an acre in the Downtown Village Historic District. The main entrance to the apartment is private on a covered side porch featuring wrought iron railing work and outdoor seating area. There is a lovely large kitchen if you are a cook and want to prepare a meal you may do so. We ask that you clean up after yourself if you choose to do any cooking. There is an automatic dishwasher as well as detergent and other cleaning supplies under the kitchen sink. You are welcome to enjoy the yard as well as sitting on the side porch. You will have access to a shared laundry area. We are available to meet with guest and answer any questions. As the owners we designed and remodeled this for our personal use, we have moved to another space and now desired to share this magnificent home with others. We love meeting new folks from all over and also respect that people may require or desire privacy. This is an independent apartment in a multifamily historic home. All other spaces are occupied with long term tenants who are all gracious and friendly. They enjoy meeting others as well and are happy to answer questions and engage in conversation if you see them. Our home is located in the heart of downtown Middletown in the historic district just 3 blocks uphill from the beautiful Connecticut RIver. This home is on a less active, one way street conveniently situated just 1 block down from Wesleyan University which has a lovely campus as well as constant arts and cultural events. Our huge and amazing public library is on the corner just diagonally across the street, which has up to date movies, music, books, magazines and computer access. We are also just one block up from Main Street which features over 40 restaurants (Including Eli Cannons Pub, Orourke's Diner, Brew Baker's {bagels and coffee}, Klekolo for coffee and you'll find almost any style and nationality of food you can imagine) along with many boutique and other great shops. We have several funky coffee/cafes and even a Fine Resident Chocolatier (Roberto). Middlesex Hospital is just blocks away. And we have easy access to the smaller more rural surrounding towns. There are several great natural areas for hiking and swimming close by (Millers Pond, The Ridge Trail, Wadsworth). There is an artist community here that supports an artists walk on Main Street every first Thursday of the month. As well, we have Kid City Museum, Oddfellows Playhouse Theater, and Wesleyan Potters and a multiplex movie theater within short walking distance of the house. This is really a centrally located property for Middletown and also for Connecticut. We have easy access to Hartford, New Haven, the shoreline, the Casinos. We are half way between New York City and Boston. Middletown is a Rebirthing city on the Connecticut River, just 15 miles south of the capitol city of Hartford and about 25 minutes north of New Haven. It is easy and comfortable to walk or bike around town but for further away trips a car is the best bet. We do have public transportation available on Main Street for in town travel (connections to the major cities) as well as to surrounding towns. But it is not the same or as complex as larger city public transit systems. There is a lovely large kitchen if you are a cook and want to prepare a meal you may do so. We ask you to clean up after yourself with any cooking. there is a dish wash as well as cleaning supplies under the kitchen sink. You are welcome to enjoy the yard as well as sitting on the side porch.
