Description

Moss Cottage can be your getaway only 45 minutes from Halifax and a few kilometers from the village of Chester on Nova Scotia's beautiful south shore. It's your choice to take in the many local sights, shop in towns and villages that dot the coastline, sail, play golf or stretch out on any number of beaches -- all within easy driving. Or, perhaps you'd prefer to stay put at Moss Cottage for a lovely chance at solitude and a dip in our crystal clear, spring fed lake. The space Everything about Moss Cottage says, cozy. The kitchen has all you need to make delicious meals and, of course, like any perfect cottage, the barbecue is standing by. Moss Cottage has a pretty, queen-sized bedroom, equipped with a stand up fan for your comfort during those sultry summer nights. A favourite feature Moss Cottage offers is a classic cast iron tub to soak your cares away. The living room offers a chaise couch andcomfy chairs with footrests for curling up to read or to watch a movie from a selection of over 100 DVDs . We've tried to think of everything anyone would want when they stay at a cottage -- there's an indoor wood stove to take the spring and summer chill away, and an outdoor fire pit to round out the summer evening experience. The upper and lower decks provide front row seats if you're a fan of watching hours of "Lake TV" -- and the decks are large enough that you can find a sunny or shady spot to suit your taste. We offer our guests the use of a sit-on kayak as well as our old row boat which is a fun way for two to explore the lake, and, of course, there are two adult life jackets. We've got pool noodles and flutter boards to bring out the kid in you -- enticing you to jump in the lake. Please, be our guest and have some fun! Guest access We've been told by guests that once they pull into the driveway at Moss Cottage they were enchanted by a "hobbit-like" set of steps leading them down to the front door. Once inside we feel you'll have everything to make your cottage stay comfortable and memorable. The house is yours alone with access to the entire main floor! All you see you may use in the kitchen & living area, bathroom and bedroom. The deck too, of course, which is the largest "room" at the cottage, has everything you need for grilling, serving meals and doing some all-important lounging. The lake is deep right off the end of the dock, beautiful for swimming without stirring up the bottom. Some guests have slipped their license in their back pockets and brought along their fishing gear. Standing in the shade of the old jack pine they've landed a trout or two that made them dance a little happy jig. We provide the wood and kindling so our guests can have an evening fire at the out door pit or if there's a nip in the air, the wood stove inside makes the cottage even cozier. Other things to note The people who own property on the lake are a quiet group. That's not to say you're not welcome to play music, have a guitar sing along, chat and laugh - there are many happy sounds emanating from various locations. However, when we decide to sit outside by a fire late into the evening, we respect each other's privacy by toning it down by midnight. Remember, sound travels over a lake so respectful language is appreciated by us all. Another point of pride for those of us property owners is that we have a 'grandfathered' agreement that there are no gas motors for boats to harm our spring fed lake. Battery operated motors or good old-fashioned oars get any boats you see from A to B. Registration Details STR2526B1183
