The nearest beach, Foce or Isola Varano, far from the tourist clamor, is highly recommended for its wild nature. Also, you can easily reach the Umbrian forest, one of the oldest geological wooded areas in Italy that offers a shady shelter and numerous trekking trails. Also pretty easy to reach are little villages inside the promontory, like Monte Sant’Angelo ( with its historic village and castle ) and San Giovanni Rotondo ( known for Santo Pio) e San Menaio.
