Red Beech Cabin - An Alpine Cabin near Lake Bohinj

Step into history at Red Beech Cabin, an Alpine cabin built in 1885 and shaped by generations of mountain life. Rich in handcrafted wooden details and simple comforts, it is a genuine place to slow down and reconnect with nature. Set in the quiet village of Ukanc within Triglav National Park, Lake Bohinj is a ten minute walk away and the Vogel cable car just five minutes on foot. Ideal for hiking, swimming and skiing in all seasons. The space The cabin offers a practical and welcoming layout, well suited to families or small groups who spend their days outdoors and value shared space in the evenings. On the ground floor there is an equipped kitchen, a comfortable living and dining area, and a bathroom with WC. The heart of the cabin is the large wood-burning stove, surrounded by handcrafted wooden details and exposed timber ceiling beams that reflect its 19th-century origins. A storage area is available for outdoor equipment. Upstairs, the first floor contains three bedrooms. The main bedroom has a king-size bed and opens onto a balcony with open mountain views. The second bedroom includes a double bed and a dedicated desk, while the third bedroom offers two single beds. All bedrooms provide wardrobe storage. Outside, you can enjoy a spacious terrace overlooking the private garden and surrounding mountains, offering a quiet place to relax after a day of walking, swimming or skiing. Guest access Two private parking spaces are available at the cabin. Other things to note Please review the photos carefully to ensure you are comfortable with the steep internal stairs, which are part of the cabin’s original design. Wi-Fi is available throughout the house. The television has an antenna connection for local programmes only; there are no cable or streaming channels. Pets are welcome by prior arrangement. A pet cleaning fee applies. Tourist tax is collected on behalf of the Bohinj municipality and will be requested ahead of arrival. The current rates are €2.50 per adult per day. Children aged 7–18 receive a 50% discount, while children under 7 are exempt. Winter conditions During winter months, snowfall in Ukanc can be significant. The driveway and immediate property area will be cleared of snow prior to your arrival. Snow shovels and grit are provided for use during your stay. If you wish to arrange regular snow clearing during your stay, we can put you in contact with a local service provider (approximately €25 per hour). In periods of heavy snowfall or icy conditions, access to the driveway may not be possible. In such cases, a paid public car park is available within a five minute walk.
