Jeepney’s are (non) air-conditioned local vehicles that are fun to ride-in – Other things to note Things to Do: Scuba Diving Puerto Galera is one of the most popular dive destinations in the Philippines. In the crystal-clear waters of the Verde Channel passage, you will find abundant marine life including sharks, colorful reef fish, sea snakes, sea horses, an occasional turtle, more than 800 species of nudibranchs, lots of schools of larger fish (Tunas, Eagle Rays, Batfish, Barracudas, etc..), and many other fascinating marine life. The waters host a range of diving experiences including drift dives, technical dives, wrecks dives, shore dives, night dives, and reef dives. Villa Amihan is more than happy to arrange a diving experience for its guests with one of the nearby PADI 5-star dive shop. Snorkeling or Beach Hopping: Snorkeling in Puerto Galera is amazing! By far the best trip we recommend is at Coral Gardens. It is an explosion of colors and marine life in the crystal clear waters of Muelle Bay off of San Antonio island. There are plenty of other locations nearby as well so be sure to ask and we can recommend a few spots to you. Sinandigan township is a pleasant provincial experience with a mix of international flavors. There are traditional Filipino "Sari Sari" stores within walking distance and a few small international hotels with restaurants and evening entertainment. The Sinandigan lighthouse is nearby (about 1 to 1.5km) and is a nice walk. Dugan beach is also nearby (1KM) and includes a moderately challenging walk down a footpath to the beach. The beach itself is best for photos (lots of coral and rock but no sand) and the snorkeling is fantastic. Sabang township is within 2KM and is home to international restaurants (Filipino, Chinese, Koren, Italian, German, Swedish, etc.). Evening to late-night entertainment is available in several venues within the townships' moderately "red-light" district (not very suitable for young children). Sabang is world-renown for its diving and there are plenty of dive shops that cater to local and international tourists (Tagalog, English, Chinese, Korean languages are spoken). Nearby Puerto Galera (8km) and White Beach (15km) offer unique shopping, sightseeing, and dining experiences. The newly refurbished marina area in Puerto Galera township is a must see with its Spanish galleon replica and newly finished pier/ walkway. White beach is exactly that; a pleasant white sandy beach with lots of small restaurants, watersports (parasailing, jetski rentals, and floats), and affordable tattoo parlors. If you are out for a tan or just enjoy sitting on the beach, a day trip to White Beach is a good choice. Talipanan is must for those who love Italian food. Luka's restaurant at the end of the beach is the definition of gastronomy tourism. Once you have selected your food, you can head out on the beach for a dip in the ocean while they prepare your food. This is a rustic restaurant so don't dress to impress - dress for the beach and great food! A suggestion -- rent a banka and take in the beautiful coastline and have the boat drop you at Luka's restaurant. Some other fun things: visit the numerous waterfalls, head up to Ponderosa (mountain top Golf Course, restaurant, and Zip Line adventures), snorkel coral gardens, do some island hopping, engage in eco-tourism and see the windmills, do some mountain biking, and hike the hills.
