The Camden Maine Stay Inn is a historic bed-and-breakfast inn located in the charming seaside village of Camden, Maine. Our Inn is well known and appreciated for its classic New England architecture; location in a historic residential neighborhood in the center of town; elegant, comfortable rooms; cleanliness, safety and attention to detail; gourmet breakfasts; extensive fine art and book collections; beautiful, spacious garden; and relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The Inn is open year round. Our Tierney guest room is a spacious, cheery, light-filled room located on the front side of the second floor of the Inn. This guest room, which can accommodate three persons, is named after Bob and Sally Tierney, our first set of Innkeepers (1983-1989). Tierney has a bedroom and private bathroom. The bedroom is furnished with a Thos. Moser king sleigh bed, love seat with fold-out twin bed, Moser desk and chair, reading lights, ceiling fan, and wide-plank wood floors that are original to the house. The bathroom includes a large soaking tub and shower. Tierney has wonderful views of the lovely white clapboard houses along historic High Street as well as a stand of mature evergreen and deciduous trees across our driveway. Guests have shared access to our Inn's common areas -- the kitchen, sun porch, dining room, den, living room, piano room and garden. As with all publicly accessible spaces, guests should be guided by mutual respect and consideration in their use of our common areas. As for the kitchen, guests are free to use it to get coffee, tea and cookies; to store small amounts of food and drinks in our refrigerator and freezer (as space is available); and, of course, to visit with us and other guests. Because many guests may be staying at our Inn and our kitchen will be used to serve all of them, we unfortunately cannot allow guests to prepare meals in the kitchen. We realize that the time set aside for vacations often is limited and precious. We want you to have the best possible experience during your visit to coastal Maine and your stay with us at the Camden Maine Stay Inn. To that end, we are here – ready, willing and able – to help you plan, organize and implement your vacation activities. To begin planning your vacation, we urge you to request a free copy of our Travel Guide on the Inn’s website. The complimentary Travel Guide, which is based on our several years as travelers and innkeepers in coastal Maine, sets forth a comprehensive array of activities and sights that are available in Camden as well as several other nearby communities. The activities and sights begin with antique stores and art galleries, continue through lighthouses, museums, nature walks/hikes and sightseeing cruises, and end with wineries and woodworking workshops. We urge you to use the Travel Guide as an idea generator and planning tool, as it lays out for you a wide spectrum of interesting places to go and things to see and do while you are here with us. Next, whether before or after you begin your vacation, we are available to discuss your travel plans with you and offer helpful suggestions. We know both the “usual suspects” and the “hidden gems” – for example, the locals’ favorite restaurants (we are unabashed foodies) and nearby but often overlooked nature walks (we love romantic strolls along the coastline). We also know where things are located in relation to each other, which can be extremely helpful in organizing the activities that you want to accomplish during your vacation. We can help you arrange daily itineraries that enhance your vacation experience based on your specific interests. Finally, we can make the arrangements for your vacation activities. Whether it is making a dinner reservation, reserving a spot on a schooner or sloop for a cruise of Penobscot Bay, securing a tee time at a local golf course, setting aside a museum admission ticket, or anything else of this sort, we are happy to take care of the tasks, large and small, that will enable you to more fully experience all that coastal Maine has to offer. Simply let us know what you want to do, and we will take it from there. The Inn is situated in the heart of Camden, commonly regarded as the most beautiful seaside village in Maine. Camden’s geography is unique – quite literally, it is where the mountains meet the sea. Camden is one of the few places in the United States, even the world, where one can hike or ski a mountain and cruise the ocean in the same day. When you combine Camden’s natural beauty with its quaint, coastal Maine setting and its varied cultural offerings, it is no wonder that the town is labeled the “Jewel of the Maine Coast.” Our Inn is blessed with an incredibly favorable location in the classic, charming High Street Historic District of Camden which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is set among several lovely, quintessentially New England residences that date back to the earliest years of Camden’s existence. From the Inn it is only a short distance – a stroll of about four minutes – to Camden’s gorgeous harbor and quaint downtown. From there one can easily walk to Camden’s many fine shops and excellent restaurants. We serve our guests a delicious, multi-course, gourmet breakfast each morning. We place a significant emphasis on using locally and regionally sourced fruit, eggs, meat, herbs and other fresh foods as part of our breakfast. To this end, we maintain an herb garden at the Inn in which we grow our own fresh basil, oregano, thyme, chives, tomatoes and other flavor enhancers during the spring, summer and fall. We also have freshly baked, homemade cookies as well as coffee and tea (more than 30 varieties) available for our guests in the kitchen every afternoon and evening. Our Maine Stay Mocha Truffle cookies are an overwhelming favorite of our guests. To many of our guests’ delight, we are more than happy to share our recipes with them.
