Description
Ideal for couples, families and wildlife enthusiasts Seal Cottage is within walking distance to both the sea and the Norfolk Broads. This charming semi detached cottage is a great base for birdwatching, seal viewing and nature walks. There are footpaths from the cottage taking you to Horsey's sandy beach or Horsey Mere. In Horsey there is a popular pub, café and the National Trust Windpump. The cottage has parking for 2 cars and has a large enclosed garden with far reaching views. The space A perfect place to relax, explore the local beaches and go on long coastal walks. The cottage has undergone complete refurbishment. On the ground floor its comfortable and sociable layout provides space for the whole family. The open plan kitchen and dining area has a warm yet modern feel. This kitchen is well set up for cooking which comes highly recommended as you venture out to pick up some seafood / catch of the day from the fishmongers in nearby Scratby. The cottage has a spacious yet cosy sitting room with a woodburner. Downstairs there is a shower room with w/c. Upstairs there are 2 double bedrooms with king size beds, both with good quality mattresses and built in cupboards. The twin bedroom with matching single beds has a chest of drawers. There is also a newly fitted bathroom. Calm, spacious, attractively furnished - a great holiday home for couples and families. The cottage has a large enclosed patio area and lawn. There is also a spacious 'walk in' open covered area ideal for bicycles. Other things to note There are so many local sandy beaches along this wonderful unspoilt coastline. Horsey Gap Beach (just a 15 minute walk or a few minutes drive to the carpark) has one of the largest seal colonies in East Anglia. All year round you will see seals either in the sea or in groups on the beach, but if you come over the winter months you are likely to see the amazing spectacle of many seal pups. Please note that in seal breeding season Nov - Feb seal viewing is from the dunes only. Horsey Gap is one of the largest and most accessible seal colonies in the UK with nearly 3,000 seal pups born last season. From the garden or from one of the footpaths you will hopefully be lucky enough to hear or see the rare European Cranes flying over - A remarkable sight! These majestic birds returned to Horsey over 40 years ago and their numbers have been slowly increasing since. Do also keep a look out for bitterns, marsh harriers and the many wild deer in the area. Wifi is unlimited but please note that intermittent connection problems can sometimes occur. Horsey is a remote village and BT 'infinity' has not yet reached the area. We ask our guests to only park on the gravel driveway, which has plenty of room for two cars. Please no parking on the grass! As well as being in one of the most unspoilt areas in East Anglia, there is a good choice of pubs and cafés in the surrounding villages - with Horsey also having its own pub (The Nelson Head) , café (Poppylands) and the National Trust tea room next to Horsey windmill at Horsey Mere.
