Take a break from the heat and the bustle of the big city of Rome and experience living in the authentic Italian village Nemi. Your home is located in La Pullarella, the picturesque center of this charming medieval borgo which has seduced poets and painters and still enchants the many tourists visiting today. GROUND FLOOR - The ground floor holds the kitchen (fully equipped, including tea and coffee-making facilities), the dining/seating area, and a small bathroom. The sofa in the living area can be converted into a bed for two guests. FIRST FLOOR - On the first floor are the bedroom, the bathroom with a shower. The bedroom opens up to a small balcony which can be used as an outdoor seating/dining area. The balcony has an awning to provide shading. The house offers free high-speed internet access (Fiber To The Home, FTTH), ideal for entertainment or remote working. The living area has a flat-screen smart TV with access to common streaming platforms (Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Disney Plus). Other things to note THE SURROUNDINGS Situated along the border of the crater and surrounded by woods, Nemi offers breathtaking views of Lake Nemi, “Lago di Nemi”, down below in the crater of an ancient volcano, famous for the discovery in the 1920s and 30s of two Roman celebratory ships of the Emperor Caligula. The remains of the ships can be seen in the “Museo delle Navi Romane” at the lake’s shore. Nemi is also famous for its delicious wild strawberries, which are smaller and sweeter than commercially grown varieties, thanks to the unique microclimate provided by the volcanic crater. Every year since 1922, Nemi celebrates its sweet-tasting delicacy on the first Sunday of June with the “Sagra delle Fragole”, the Strawberry Festival. Nemi itself is home to a few late medieval to 18th-century churches, and the Castello Ruspoli, dominating both town and landscape, the core of which dates to the 10th century. GETTING TO NEMI Nemi is located about 20 km southeast of Rome in the Alban Hills (“Colli Albani”). Nemi is even a popular location amongst Romans as a convenient weekend getaway in a beautiful and tranquil setting. BY PLANE: Nemi can be easily reached from Ciampino airport (30 min drive) and Fiumicino airport (50 min drive). Shuttle services can be arranged on request. BY CAR - Along the highway, the closest exits to the center of Nemi are San Cesareo exit (A1 dir Roma South branch), Monte Porzio Catone exit (A1 towards Rome South branch), Valmontone exit (A1 Milan-Naples), Exit Ponte Di Nona (A24 Rome-Teramo) BY TRAIN: Nearby train stations are Albano Laziale, Lanuvio, Campoleone, and Velletri. Please note that, in any case, Nemi is beyond walking distance from these stations. You will either need a taxi from the train stations to Nemi or take a bus. Depending on your hour of arrival, taxis may not be readily available at the stations. We recommend that you enquire about the most convenient mode of transport.
