The owner and master chef Bernd Weber breeds his own Angus cattle, which are completely processed in-house. The house is known for the tender young beef roast with homemade Swabian spaetzle in the wider area. Potatoes and some vegetables also come from their own cultivation in fields around Röttingen. Sustainability is particularly important to the owner of the Hotel Sonne. For example, two photovoltaic systems are operated to generate electricity, and heating is provided with a wood chip heating system that is operated with wood from its own regional forests.
