In addition in 2006, our entire Northeast Kingdom of Vermont was designated by the National Geographic Society as a Geotourism area. FROM THE SOUTH Route I-91 north to Exit 10 in Vermont (Rte I-89-North) Route I-89 north to Exit 10 (the Stowe exit) to Rte 100 North. Route 100 north to Rte 118 north. (Route 100 will zigzag through Morrisville and join Rte 15 for approx. 2 miles before breaking north again. From this point it is approximately 9 miles to Rte 118). Rte. 118 becomes the Main St. in Montgomery Center. FROM BOSTON Best way to I-93 north. Route I-93 to I-89 north Route I-89 north to Exit 10 (the Stowe exit) to Rte 100 North. Route 100 north to Rte 118 north. (Route 100 will zigzag through Morrisville and join Rte 15 for approx. 2 miles before breaking north again. From this point it is approximately 9 miles to Rte 118). Rte. 118 becomes the Main St. in Montgomery Center. FROM BURLINGTON Route I-89 north to Exit 19 Turn right at end of ramp onto Rte 104 and follow until Rte 104 merges into Rte 105 Follow Rte 105 through Enosburg Falls toward Richford to Rte 118 south. Follow Rte 118 south seven miles to the 2nd village (Montgomery Center) Rte. 118 becomes the Main St. in Montgomery Center. FROM MONTREAL, QC Follow Auto Route 10 to Auto Route 35 south. Auto Route 35 currently ends at Rte 133. Turn left at the exit ramp. In Pike River, turn left onto Rte. 122 and take it through Bedford to Staybridge East. Turn right onto Rte. 237. Follow Rte 237 through Frelighsburg south to the U.S. Border. Road becomes U.S. Route 108. Follow it for 2 km and then stay straight as it becomes Rte. 118. Follow Rte. 118. Road takes a slight left-then-right jag as it crosses Rte. 105 in East Berkshire. After this zig-zag, follow Rte 118 south 10 km to the 2nd village (Montgomery Center). Rte. 118 becomes the Main St. in Montgomery Center. We are on the right. Distance: approximately 131 km; 95 mins. From QUEBEC CITY, QC Take the Trans Canada 20 West to Drummondville Take Highway 55 South to Sherbrooke Then take Autoroute 10 West to Exit 106 at Eastman, QC Follow Route 245 South to South Bolton Take Route 243 South through Mansonville to Highwater, Quebec/North Troy, VT border Then take a right onto Route 101 South for approximately 3 miles Turn right onto Route 242 West and follow it into Montgomery Center Distance: approximately 320 km/200 miles; 3.25 hours WARNING REGARDING ROUTE 58 In WINTER Directions to Phineas Swann Bed and BreakfastPlease be warned that any directions which refer to Rte 58 are only valid during the summer months since Rte 58 between Lowell and Montgomery Center is closed in the winter and not passable from November 1 to May 1. Although open in the summer, Rte 58 is not paved along the stretch through Hazen's Notch. It is a beautiful drive in summer, but closed in winter. If your directions specify taking Rte 58 (Exit 28 off of I-91), IN THE WINTER, you will only be able to go as far as Lowell. From there, MUST take Rte. Rte 100 North to Rte 101 North. In Troy take Rte 101 North until you see Rte 242 on the left (signs will direct you to Jay Peak). Take Rte 242 South towards Jay Peak. Go past Jay Peak Resort until you reach Rte. 118. Turn right on Rte 118 - The Phineas Swann is about 300 feet on the left - 195 Main Street. SHUTTLE SERVICE FROM BURLINGTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT OR AMTRAK ST. ALBANS JWJJay Way Jitney provides a shuttle service from either Burlington International Airport in Burlington or from the Amtrak Station in St. Albans. One-way shuttles from Amtrak-St. Albans to the Phineas Swann is $65 per person/$180 for a group of 3 or more. One-way shuttle from BTV-Burlington International to the Phineas Swann is $98 per person/$250 for a group of 3 or more.
