Description

Glacier Cabin is a hand-built two-story log cabin on our 320-acre Alaskan homestead. Each bedroom has a queen bed, one upstairs and one down, giving both comfort and privacy. A full bath with shower and a second bath with tub provides simple convenience after a day outdoors. You’ll have running water, electricity, internet, and a small kitchen. TV free and peaceful, the cabin offers forest views, fresh air, and quiet space to slow down and enjoy the rhythm of remote Alaska. The space Room 6 is part of our inn, located on our 320-acre Alaskan homestead first built in the 1970s by four generations using timber milled on site. After sitting empty for over a decade, our family is restoring the property, so some areas are worn, rustic, or unfinished. This is an active project, not a polished resort, and staying here lets you be part of that process. The inn is in a remote area surrounded by forests, fields, and wide open skies. Wrangell–St. Elias National Park is a short drive away, offering hiking, fishing, and glacier adventures. Scenic drives along the Richardson Highway pass historic sites, rivers, and mountains. The nearest towns are 30 minutes to Chitina, 60 minutes to Glennallen, 105 minutes to Valdez, and 150 minutes to Kennicott. A small diner and grocery store are nearby, the rest is pure Alaskan wilderness. This is an active working property, which means animals freely roam, including chickens and our friendly dogs. Guests may encounter them on the property - these curious residents are part of the experience. For a true taste of Alaskan life, this is a wonderful, immersive stay, but if you are uncomfortable around farm animals or wildlife, this may not be the right fit. The inn covers basic needs, providing hot water, electricity, WiFi, and basic cooking essentials. Guests looking for a more private stay or a fuller kitchen setup for cooking can check out our nearby cabins. If you want a genuine Alaskan experience, remote, unplugged, and full of history, this is the place to be. Guest access Guests at Glacier Cabin have full access to the cabin they booked. Other cabins or areas on the homestead may look worn, empty, or under repair, and that is part of the property’s history and ongoing care. You can enjoy your cabin without concern, even if other areas are being restored or are less finished. You are welcome to explore the grounds and enjoy the peaceful surroundings, but some areas are private or in use, so please stay out of locked rooms and other buildings unless invited. Self-check in makes arrival easy, and we are always nearby if you need anything. We appreciate guests who value independence, quiet, and respect for the space, helping keep the homestead calm and welcoming for everyone. Other things to note Please check out the guest guide, as it includes all the necessary information about the area, what to do, and details to help make your stay enjoyable. This is an active homestead with farm work and heavy equipment operating from early morning into the evening. We appreciate your understanding that this activity is not subject to quiet hours. Harvest and daily operations follow the rhythm of the land, not personal schedules. There are over 40 chickens and 4 turkeys, including two large toms who roam freely. The toms aren't aggressive; they just like to show off because they know they’re handsome. Please don’t chase, hold, pet, or physically interact with any of the animals. While we ask that you keep a respectful distance, the chickens may not follow that rule and could walk right up to you. Feel free to take photos and videos from a safe distance. This helps keep both the animals and you safe. Important: Chicks may be moving around near their mothers. For your safety, and to avoid a fine or an unpleasant encounter, please do not approach or touch them.
